so glad we made that trade. Duran is looking like a stud, smith is looking like the ultimate utility guy, and Otto isn’t done yet.

That Gallo trade may prove to be one of the best deals since the Teixeira trade.
Duran looks like a franchise-caliber player and Otto had a very nice finish to last year - last twelve starts had an ERA around 3.80 and really cut the walks down nicely.

Is there anything that compares? I wish I could say there is, but the Hamels and Darvish trades were massive whiffs. We got nothing out of those deals.

If I was the GM for a team the Rangers wanted to deal with next month, and I had an opening in the infield for Smith, I would insist the Rangers include him in the trade, toward the end of the negotiations. I believe that is exactly the tact the Rangers took when they acquired him. With him starting here no more than once a week, CY would have to view him as expendable.

but we also need the offense to come out swinging from the opening pitch pounding the Tiger pitchers and not let up. Don’t support attacking the 1st pitch but the Rangers batters seem to start each at bat 0-2 especially Jung
