That would be total bs. I'm fine with Bama ALWAYS being in the cfp/title game, WHEN THEY DESERVE IT, but for fucks sake, they've lost 2 games, their best win is vs Texas? And they barely won that game.
As I tried to tell him....sure, I guess anything is possible, but if they really wanted to keep Bama more alive they'd have had them ahead of OSU in last Tuesday's ranking.

Saying "it could happen" when asked means nothing as that's pretty much the answer to anything before the ranking comes out.

Of course he will suggest it. He can suggest anything as they try not to give anything away before the announcement. He'll pretty much say anything is on the table if asked.

But since it happens "all the time" can you think of one time it has actually happened (not including suggesting it might in the future)? Can you really not see if what you are saying is true the easiest way to go would have been to put Bama ahead of OSU in the ranking last Tuesday?

I get there can be SEC bias and sure saw that as a possibility......but it didn't happen.

Also the opposite of the writers scenario occurred. Georgia won and Michigan won.

And again...so did Toledo.

OSU opponents picked up 2 wins and Bamas got a loss.

Alabama vs Georgia
Tennessee vs Michigan

Three sec teams? The anticipation/excitement value would be about zero. Aside from UM, it's basically just a recap of the SEC regular season. If the selection committee wants to kill the playoffs, that would be the way to do it.
The SEC has the most exciting and best teams this year. They play tough schedules and their own conference is tough. ESPN caugh Saban yesterday at home. He thinks that 'Bama should be in the playoffs. What was he doing? He was calling potential recruits for next year.

Anybody have a high school senior in their family that got a phone call yesterday??

If i am Georgia or Michigan i want to play TCU over OSU

TCU had to make 6 comebacks just to win...They could have easily had 5-6 losses vs being undefeated...They remind me a lot of when Cincinnati went undefeated then bitched they deserved to get in.
and if the committee thinks this is the case (OSU better) they might not make the #1 team face them and could put TCU 4.

Guess we'll find out soon.

LSU loss hurts Bama
Mich win helps OSU
OSU was already ahead of Bama in the rankings
Can't see any way Bama goes over OSU

TCU only loss is OT in the CCG

I think it should be a no-brainer that OSU and TCU are in. The only debate should be who is 3 and who is 4.
I'd say keep TCU at #3, if anything just to avoid the OSU vs Michigan rematch in the semis.

So go back and re-watch the sec's regular season. The rest of us want to see some different match-ups because that's what makes college football fun.

That's because he's a self-absorbed child. And what do you do with whiny little children? You ignore them.

Do they even have a good win this year? Texas? Is that their best win?

Ole Miss and Mississippi State are both better than anyone TCU beat.

Put TCU in the SEC and they probably have 4 or 5 losses.

I think Kansas St is better than both of those teams.

TCU was never in doubt.

And the idea that they would even fall to the #4 seed was a bit suspect.

Let’s be honest…this doesn’t happen every year but it absolutely applies this year. The only two teams who have earned the right to play for a national title are Georgia and Michigan. Neither TCU nor OSU have earned a chance to play for the national title but the format calls for 4 teams not 2.

My argument was their 1 loss was to a worse team than OSU 1 loss and the rest of their wins required huge comebacks vs OSU won their games pretty easily. The entire way they decide is pretty random tho lol

Yeah it isn’t a surprise to anyone that the structure of college football is completely broken. Always has been.

Allowing teams in lesser conferences to schedule cupcake games and avoid real competition makes this whole process a sham. But it has always been like that.

Expanding the playoffs in a few years will fix that.

…..

Lets assume this year was expanded.

And if that was the case this year, if the first round matchup was Alabama vs TCU, how many people here would put their money on TCU?

My argument was their 1 loss was to a worse team than OSU 1 loss

Losing by 3 touchdowns at home to the playoff ranked #2 team

Losing in overtime, primarily by having to go first after coinflip, on a neutral site to the the playoff ranked #8/#9 (K-state was #10).

I cannot see how TCU has a worse loss???

Ohio State clearly deserved to be in over Alabama.

There is very little argument to suggest OSU should have jumped TCU.

The committee got it right.
