I'm glad we're getting some more Sherman meme faces. He is definitely an emotional guy and he had the impossible task of covering Chiefs WRs 1 on 1 but...yeah...bring on the memes

I doubt there's a coach who never complained. This whole point about coaches complaining is well . . . kinda pointless.
Agreed, Sean Payton is one of the worst. It really doesn't mean much and like you said in your other post, nobody was as annoying as Harbaugh. But every coach looks for a call. Any edge you can get and I don't have a problem with it. I have more of an issue with the broadcast crew pointing it out to us every 5 minutes.

For 3 quarters I was ready to admit that this may be one of the few instances where the team with the meddling QB wins a ring. Then the 4th quarter began and order was resorted. Mahomes was great and Jimmy G sucked, that and the play calling was the difference in determining a champion. Kyle should have run more late but there were plays to be made and his QB flat missed them at the most crucial time.

I really believe his lack of confidence in his QB was the reason he didn't call that TO at the end of the half. Playing with this level of QB is a severe handicap, even this defense and running game could not overcome it.
I don't know if Kyle Shanahan really thinks Jimmy G blows or not, but he calls plays like he does.

It's one thing when Frank Reich did it this year as Jacoby Brissett I think most people know is just not very good, but Jimmy G? It's just weird, imo.

Vrabel abandoned the run against the Chiefs a lot earlier.

Can the Chiefs pass defense get some credit for being pretty good? I get that the Niners coach probably should've ran it more but once the Chiefs got the matchup they wanted (Chiefs pass D against Niners pass O), they took over.

I think we should give a little credit to the Chiefs D and Steve Spagnolo as well. In the first half, they were getting gashed for big chunk yardage in the run game. Some with trickery but San Fran was imposing their will and they adjusted and limited that a little better late in the game. The Chiefs front made a couple of good stops when they had to and they removed George Kittle from the game. Kittle is JimmyG's safety blanket. Without him, the Niners pass game is pretty meh. I think the Chiefs D played a solid 2nd half and they gave the offense a lot of momentum with some of those quick stops.
As for Shanahan's playcalling, I think he started to panic a little and wanted a big play to rally his team. But his QB missed the big throw that would have put the Chiefs back on their heals. After that miss, you could see the letdown on the players faces. After that, I knew the Chiefs were gonna win.

Going conservative at the end of the first half and the 3rd and 15/44 yard pass to Hill were the two game changers. Chiefs simply ended up being a little bit better Sunday night. Future still looks good for SF. Congrats Chiefs fans.

We should've known that would happen. Shanahan went too conservative a few times during the regular season, and I was hoping he wouldn't do that in the Super Bowl, but it reared its ugly head. Even Lynch was hoping for a timeout. Clearly a huge mistake when it winds up being a close game in the 4th quarter.

In the end, the Niners were a play or two short. Chiefs cashed in on their opportunities, while Shanahan refused to take advantage of all of his.

I thought running on the final series was fine... it's what the 49ers should've been doing the ENTIRE 2nd half, but for some odd reason Shanahan was like, "DERP LET'S START PASSING SO JIMMY G CAN GET SUPER BOWL MVP OR SOMETHIN HEH!"

That said, you could tell even with the first run being for over 15 yards, that the 49ers were COMPLETELY unprepared for the 2 minute drill (no urgency getting up to the LOS) and Jimmy Garporalrorlrol had ZERO clue what the fuck to do.

Shanahan is just not that good of a coach when it comes to getting the job done. Not to mention, he lucked out big time with a full rebuild Arizona team, a half injured Seattle team, and Jared going full Goof in LA. 49ers are a 9-7 team next year, book it.

I wonder how much more Sherman really has. He is really too slow now to be a lockdown corner. He has to give a 20 yard cushion to not get beat deep. Makes for easy throws for opposing QBs, Still a very high football IQ and a solid tackler though so we will see but since the achilles injury, not nearly the same.

Good comment, I agree that the Niners will regress next season. The NFC West will be a tough division next season. The Hawks and Rams will be better and the Cards will improve.

I think we can question some play calls...but the reality is much like the 28-3 game, Shanahan struggles closing out games with the lead...up 20-10...11:57 in the 4Q , they get the 2nd INT on Mahomes. They get one 1st down, then go 3 and out...KC gets the ball back 8:54...they barely burn 3 mins.

The one that really stuck out...up 20-17, 6:08 4Q, 1st down they get 5 on a 1st down run...for some reason they pass on 2nd, knocked down, now 3 and 5 and obvious passing, KC brings heat, incomplete, they punt the ball back at 5:18, less than a minute runs off the clock.

Of course when SF gets the ball back, they're now behind.

I thought it was a case of an elite QB/OFC vs a very good DEF and that's how it played out. The SF front 4 made some plays, got a couple of picks, but didn't make enough plays to stop an elite QB...

I'm not really bummed on that one. On the 2nd down play, Garoppolo had two open targets - Samuel and Kittle. Jones just knocked down what would've been a first down....he makes a good football play.

Not to mention 49ers are bottom 10 in cap room (thanks to Jimmy Gaprpoerrlrolol) and have ONE pick (their first rounder, which is late... can get a 2nd and 4th maybe) in the first FOUR rounds.

That team better PRAY they do not get injured (got very lucky this season - Ford/Bosa/Sherman, nothing major). Their free agency isn't too bad (with exception of Sanders), but they wont be able to make any major improvements in free agency.

I definitely won't make any predictions on the NFC West. I suspect that will be the toughest division in football the next three years.

I'm guessing he probably has another year left and then after that I'm guessing he is done. CBs usually fall off a cliff at some point and I think Sherman will do that here shortly.

No shame in having Sammy Watkins beat you 1 on 1 when the Chiefs had 2 weeks to prep. He isnt a legion of boom star anymore, though. Just physical and aggressive.
