well apparently the Reds have beat us out for Pedro Strop. is it a matter of JD not putting out much of effort or overspending on the part of the Reds?

well the Reds are signing him to a 1 year $1.825M deal so it appears that JD just didn't make much of an effort

Well, the Reds beat out all 29 other teams for Pedro Strop. I'm willing to bet there are at least 10 teams that need more bullpen help than the Rangers. So if none of those teams wanted to outbid the Reds for Strop at a relatively cheap price of $2 million, then maybe it's not so much about JD "not making much of an effort," and more about not chasing after a player that wasn't worth much to begin with.

According to reports from bleacher report over the last couple of days it was down to 2 teams: the Rangers and the Reds.

Apparently there wasn't any other teams
Right. They were not interested which implies he was not high enough on their radar to put out 2 mill for him. And obviously the Rangers didn't want to either.

Curious if the new ballpark will favor pitchers or hitters.
I am curious about that as well as how much that will vary depending on if the roof is open or closed.

So, is the consensus that the Reds are pretty dumb for signing Castellanos and Strop to those contracts?

Castellanos will be interesting to watch and see how he does over the next 4 years. But I don't think what they did was dumb but other teams must have decided it was better to hold on to their money and wait for something else.

I've seen it mentioned that Catellanos' defense is gonna be brutal to watch during the final years of that contract.

I am just shocked that an NL team signed him. His defense is horrible

I’m curious to hear some other point of views on Scott Heineman.
He has dominated at A, AA, and AAA last year. I don’t see any reason he couldn’t hit
.285/.360/.445 putting up an .805 OPS
Steal 15 bases, 15 HRs, 30 doubles and score 80-90 runs. I think he could put up 3 WAR.
Maybe be a player a little better than Adam Eaton but not quite as good as Whit Merrifield.
What do y’all think?
He hit .347 .415 .591 1.006 in 200 AB in AAA last year
He may be able to hit .300/.370/.550 .920 with 20 homers but I’ll stick the before prediction lol

Adam Eaton Stats | Baseball-Reference.com

Scott Heineman Stats | Baseball-Reference.com

I wonder if Scott Heineman will end getting a lot of playing time in Center Field with Santana being more of a utility player who plays all around the field and gets his 500 ABs
