Mason Rudolph played reasonably well yesterday and looks like he may have what it takes to be a solid starter in the League.

Yea I don't know how Ben could come back from this. Rudolph has proven he can be the future, albeit its not exactly sturdy foundations yet. He has given us hope though.

If Ben comes back from this injury, the best they can hope to get from him at 38 years old next year is maybe 60-70%. And why handicap the team with Ben if Mason continues to prove himself?

IMO it's time to blow this fucker up. Send Tomlin & Butler packing. Artie II doesn't have the marbles, but one can dream.

Hopefully Colbert sticks it out another couple years, but that's debatable.

So now that Ben's career is over.
Who does the Steelers draft next year.
Do you guys think you use your 1st rounder on him or get a vet next year?

Probably would depend on how Randolph does the rest of the year.

If were the Steelers I'd fire Tomlin at the end of the season, clean house on the roster and just keep your young core and get as many draft picks as you can and try to retool the team to be good in a couple of seasons.

It depends on how Mason plays.

Either he earns the job, or earns the Steelers a high enough pick to replace him.

0-2 is a great start to beat Miami to the punch.

Colbert can still do the job. But not with a Tomlin there to have equal say in the draft.

And yeah. Blow this bitch up.

I'm currently in a heated debated via text with some of my friends about whether Colbert needs to go as well. I'm still pro-Colbert, but many people have soured on him. I too think without Tomlin that Colbert is still a top 5 GM.

PIT looking a lot better at backup QB than New Orleans
yeah I thought he did pretty well.
but
A lot of times a back up comes in & does well, since a defense didnt prep for them. Then Shit the bed the next week when a defense is prepped for them.
Now I know nothing of this QB. So I have no idea what to expect next week. I know he did play well & even his INT wasnt really his fault. He seemed to have command of the offense.

It's always the guys that Tomlin falls in love with. The workout warriors, the speed freaks. It's like Al Davis died and haunted him.

Didn't care about how they produced, he'll draft a safety in the 1st round who should have gone in the third.

Hard to say with Colbert.

Could be like the Rams in once they dumped Fisher and got McVay all the team had the talent to be a contender because of coaching.

Or he Colbert could suck at drafting and Tomlin could suck at coaching them up.

If Ben hangs it up, then Pouncey will. Time to rebuild the O-line and give Rudolph the best chance to succeed. They will still have Villanueva & DeCastro. But Foster & Pouncey aren't long for the gridiron. I don't want them to get caught in that spinning cycle of skill talent picks hanging the QB out to dry.

Ben's probably done, as is Pouncey if that's the case. Lot of money coming off the books.

This season was trending towards dud even with Ben so it being spent evaluating the team's QB of the future isnt the worst thing ever.

good posts... The killer B's era is over( not that they produced very much) Clean house on the whole coaching staff, Tomlin, Fichtner, and Butler, keep Colbert. give this team the enema it needs to get back to Steelers football. If only Rooney would grow a set and get rid of Tomlin & Co

Oh don't say that. They've had a 1st ballot HOFer under C for years now. I hope Rudolph turns out to be more of a Mark Malone or Bubby Brister type QB.

I'm fine with BJ Finney stepping in for Pouncey.
