100% accurate. He is garbage now. He cannot sing. Anyone who tries to say they prefer his new stuff to the old is lying but thinks it I is classy to understands the nuance of his new stuff. People like that crack me up

Everything I've ever seen or read suggests the opposite. He wanted to be taken seriously as a writer, poet and thinker, but instead became a teen sex symbol and eventually a caricature of himself because of it.

His death and subsequent over-inflated icon status overshadowed the band, who were actually the real talent. Krieger and Manzarek were pretty good.

Best way to get his writings en sech out there(coupled with pressure from the band to be their singer)....but it backfired on him with the teeny bopper sex symbol stuff.

The original list is pretty interesting. "Overrated" is such a hard thing to quantify. And it doesn't mean the group didn't have some good songs. I think the common denominator in a group being overrated is that they have some niche group of people that are such over the top fans that they get more exposure than they deserve. Like I like some grateful dead songs but I can't argue if you say they are overrated in general. I like Springsteen's music, but I think he's overrated as well.

But let me add a couple more to the list. The Doobie Brothers. and maybe the most overrated of all musicians that gets air time on Classic Rock stations - Jimmy Buffett

If it’s an act, rethink it, if you really are that stupid, take your time and try to think shit through. I have to agree about the Doors; over rated. All this talk about Morrison as a poet; good lord!
"Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name; hello, I love you, let me jump in your game" Sounds like a sixth grader's rhyming.

Ehh...I don't care to defend Morrison too much, but he DOES have some actual poems that are somewhat better than their song lyrics.

I'm on record earlier in the thread, though: Robby Kreiger was the true genius behind the doors.

Not sure how KISS is overrated when you all seem to dislike them. KISS is an experience, it's about the show, nobody ever said they were great musicians.
