Which is a more important position, QB or TE? If you are walking into a program that is completely devoid at a position, I’m not switching people out of the most important position in my complex offense to probably the least important offensive position.
Except Pattersen isn’t a Harbaugh recruit so if this is another 8-5 or 9-4 season then the excuses will still be “he still doesn’t have a quarterback he recruited.”
You don’t force a square peg into a round hole. They signed him for his size, speed and athleticism. It isn’t as if UM had time to go recruit once Harbaugh signed. It was like a month before signing day. It is why the class was so small and why the next two classes were so big.
And this year coming up — there is no excuse. It is his third full recruiting class. He will have his own recruits all over the field. All the freshman from last year will have a full year of experience. UM has a defense to compete with anyone — it is all up to the offense if they can compete.
I’m definitely not saying UM is going to win anything, as they will most likely have a new QB, new blocking schemes and most likely new offensive sets. I can’t wait to see how they do though.
I think we end up in the 10-2 range. They have a brutal schedule, so 10-2 would be a great year.
