its just amazing to me a team would be so happy to be so mediocre that they would mortgage their future to be an also-ran that got their shit pushed in in the first round.

Honestly- thats Kings level shit-- no cap space and no draft picks. If there was ever compelling evidence of Riley throwing 78MPH spitballs its coming off a mediocre season and having absolutely no assets/cap space to do anything and being choked out by paying guys like Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside a combined 45M a year.

think about that- for the next 2 years Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside will take up a little under HALF of the Heat's cap space. How the fuck does that happen?-- lol- well besides having a GM that just shit all over himself?

Once again we'll be fine. Last I checked, Tyler and Hassan did not sign a lifetime deal. Also if there was a time to be in this position, the time is now when the Warriors are dominating the league and no other team really stand a chance. Come 2020, we'll have cap space and the Warriors dominance is likely done.

yup right in 2020........2 years from now..right when you will be sending an unprotected first rounder out to the Sixers.

but then again- Pat probably knew that would come back to bite them but prob didnt care--- itll be someone elses problem by then.

pluis of course- if Winslow and Richardson are actually any good- they will get some substantial salary bumps that will suck up plenty of that cap space.....well before that for Winslow anyway

not joking--- one of my buddies lived in Treemont- a pretty nice area of Cleveland on the inner west side that has been built up lately, but the surrounding area is still really bad....he lived on the outskirts- and literally about a quarter mile down his street was Ariel Castro- the dude that had 3 girls in his basemenet for like a decade +....so messed up.

That describes major cities in Texas (sans Austin). You'll be in a really nice area, but a couple of blocks later, you're in the hood.

Yeah.....this is a poor troll attempt by Wiggy.

You, myself and Turnup have accepted that the Heat are stuck with this roster for the next 2 years. Which is a 1st/2nd round playoff team. That's fine by me. It's not like these guys are signed to 6-year contracts.

lol let's see how building strictly through the draft goes for Cleveland.

I love how you put so much stock on building through the draft. Very rarely does that work unless you're able to select a Lebron James or Kevin Durant. It is the reason why the Kings been bad for so long and why the Wolves were so bad until trading for Butler

You would think Hassan & Tyler signed a 10 year deal.

A 4 year deal during the Warriors dominance era is really not a big deal.

Houston went for it all during this era and likely won't win a ring

Pat probably knew? I doubt it. According to you Riley hasn't known what the hell he's doing for years now.

for the 2020/2021 season the Heat have the following cap commitments:

James Johnson TEAM option- 16M that will DEF. be declined if he is not shipped out before then--- that was a bad contract as soon as it was signed.

Dion Waiters is due 14M in 2020/2021...good luck with that.

Richardson is due 11M in 2020/2021--- and then has a player option for 12M the next year he will decline if he is good and look for a substantial raise- if he is good that is

Onlyk has a player option in 2020/2021 for 12M --- who knows how he will be at that point and if he declines it or picks it up- that one is up in the air.

Winslow is a free agent next offseason.....will they give him money or let him walk? should be interesting to see how he does this year.

Bam will still be on his rookie deal for 5M.

So- say they sign Winslow to a 12M a year contract........and they dont find a taker for Waiters and Olnyk picks up his player option.....

Between Winslow, Olnyk, Bam, Richardson, Waiters- the Heat would have about 54M committed to those 5 players for 2020/2021.

Lets guess the cap raises a little bit by then- say its like 115.....that would leave about 61M

It's normally a pussified way of thinking we'll just sit idly by and wait for a dynasty to dissolve before building up the team. But given the structure of the Warriors, I'm willing to make an exception.

In 2 years when these contracts are up, the entire NBA landscape could look different. For the time being, I'm content with being a 1st/2nd round playoff team.

lol 2nd round my ass....you think they are beating the Sixers, Celtics or Raptors? no way they get a 5 seed. Pacers and Bucks are clearly better.

Never said the Heat were better than the aforementioned teams. Although the 76ers lost a lot of players from their team last year like Illyasova and Bellinelli.

But the Heat could contend with the Bucks and Pacers. These teams had nearly identical records last year, so what makes you believe that these two teams are definitely better than the Heat?

thats true...if his wife can keep him from eating dog food and calling Red Auerbach for trade advice thats prob a good day...lol.

how do you leave such a mediocre team with nothing this offseason to improve? no cap space/no draft picks. Any other GM would be getting killed for such a fuckup.

Yep I'm perfectly fine with that. At least it makes the regular season worth watching. Much better than watching your team tank for multiple, hope they get a few top 3 picks, and hope those guys turn out to be superstars

those teams got better and the Heat did nothing this offseason. Giannis is a star and they will have a full year of Bledsoe and Middleton and added Illysova and Lopez. The Pacers added Evans and have a budding star in Turner.

I think the Pacers could be a darkhorse in the East. They are solid everywhere, and have depth.

yah like how the Heat got Wade and started their whole cycle of winning. Dont want to do that. lol. Id rather have Bam or no pick at all. Not that Bam is bad- just a role player htough- like TT. MAybe a possible high level role player down the line- but a garbage man when it comes down to it.

Bucks are better based on what exactly? Your personal preference?

They always underachieved even though they have a top 10 player on their roster.

The Heat as banged up as they were finished with the same record as them last season while the Bucks had their superstar available 75 games last year

yah like how the Heat got Wade and started their whole cycle of winning. Dont want to do that. lol.

Heat won 41 games with Wade in his rookie year. They became a title contender when they traded for Shaq.

If they don't make Shaq, there is a great possibility they never win a title with just Wade. They needed another star and went out and got one.

Once again, building strictly through the draft almost never works
