Yeah, I get that. Works for the Dubs, but not so sure it'll work for us...

Why does anyone think their team could replicate what the Warriors do?

If you want to replicate what the Dubs do it is a pretty straightforward process.

1. Draft the best shooter of all time to play point guard.
2. Draft one of the 5 best shooters of all time to play shooting guard.
3. Sign one of the best players in basketball to play swing forward.

Once you do that, you too can play like the Warriors!!

Definitely. I think they are as likely to miss the playoffs as get a home court round.

Yeah, in a stacked WC....I think they could be on the outside looking in when the postseason starts.

Minny too maybe with Butler not wanting to be there long term.

I don't know if it's as much about replicating what the Warriors do, as it is about incorporating some of their principles and adapting them to a teams personnel.

For the Lakers, depending on who they put out there, it may be more about matching up defensively than trying to keep up offensively.

just depends on the matchups.

Maybe you can get away with it against certain teams and matchups.

but, guys like Anthony Davis, or Rudy Gobert or Nikola Jokic, or Deandre Jordan or LaMarcus Aldridge or Marc Gasol--- or Towns or Adams --- getting covered by Kuzma or James is just not gonna happen. Luckily there are not too many dominant big men left.

Yeah, I agree.....just spit-balling since James is 34 and you don't want him taking a pounding playing C a lot.

Kuzma 10-12mpg at C.
James 8mpg at C.
McGee 10mpg.
Zubac 10mpg.
Wagner 7mpg.

Minny is the playoff team I think that is least likely to make the playoffs again next year. IMO, Thibs is fired by Feb.

Nothing wrong with embracing some of the Warriors philosophies. Lots of ball movement and fast breaks to an open 3 point shooter en such.

But the Death Lineup is a very specific situation that requires a very specific set of skills that is unlikely another team will be able to assemble.

They should have really gave San Antonio a call about Kawhi or starting shopping Jimmy B. He is going to walk

I agree. But you have to matchup with it somehow. That's basically what I was addressing, but didn't make clear in my post.

Example, the Lakers version of the "death lineup" may be more about matching up defensively.

We know the one thing that the Warriors struggle with at times is teams that are long, athletic and can switch everything defensively. The Lakers have a few of those types of guys.

Don't know how well it'll work, but I'll bet it'll work better than trying to score with them. lol

I think you'll see Wagner play more than Zubac (and maybe even more than McGee) as his ability to stretch the floor will be needed and ideal. If not initially, at least by the end of the season. Zubac is likely going to be bench-ridden IMO.

Could be true. That was just off the top of my head.

Agree. While I like Zubac, I think his ceiling is a solid backup. If he were capable of more, we'd have seen it by now.

He's another casualty of changing times. A decade ago, he would be a rising talent at C.

Maybe Zubac doesn't play, but the rest of those guys will. They may not all play C, but they will see the court.

I think Walton will play 9-10.

Obviously not every player is playing 82 games.....LOL.

Kuzma and James can play more than 1 position.

Also draft one of the most unique players in NBA history in the 2nd round in Draymond Green. This whole thing really doesn't work without him, or at the very least takes a very different path. No one can replicate what the Warriors have done, because they've been a direct beneficiary of a lot of things going perfect for them to make this work. Drafting 3 HOF's in the span of 4 years. Curry's injury allowing the Warriors to lock him in to an extreme team friendly deal. Then a cap spike that allowed us to offer Durant a max contract. Taking a risk on hiring a player agent as their GM with Bob Myers, which has worked out incredibly well. Lastly, and mostly overlooked, Steve Kerr was all set to go to the Knicks when Dolan cheaped out on him. After the Knicks lowballed him, he got in contact with the Warriors and the rest is history.

Well as a player on a team who just finished 3rd in the west, you're always going to think there is a chance that you can win a title. Considering the fact that CJ actually plays for Portland, I have no issue with him thinking that way even if they did get knocked out in round 1. Now if he was just a fan then that's different.

KD talking down to players is hilarious considering he had to join a 73 win team to start winning titles. Fuck that guy

I don't either. In fact, I would have a problem with any player who didn't think their team could win, regardless of how realistic that is.

But, I also don't have a problem with anything KD said. CJ started it, and KD put him in his place. Brutal, but true, regardless of anybody's personal feelings toward the player.
