It would be interesting to see what an older and wiser John Lennon would be like today if he were alive. They balanced each other well. Lennon's sardonic wit needed some sweetening for mass consumption.
AND Colonel SandersElvis career was mishandled by Colonel Parker.
Brian Epstein cost the Beatles multi millions of dollars but who knew it would become that big and last this long. I think they thought they might last a year so he took every shitty deal offered. It seems the Beatles themselves were not very good businessmen either.Elvis career was mishandled by Colonel Parker.
I'm with ya. At least the Beatles went out on top, not hanging on forever like Elvis or the Stones and losing their relevance.
Ya, but I think that was smart. They could not possibly live up to the hype and expectations. "Always leave the audience wanting more" has been a tried and true method for legendary status throughout the years and I think has added to the allure of the Beatles as well.Well, they never really went away, just didn't perform/record together (although there was frequent overlap) until individuals have passed away. It's a shame they never gave it another go IMO.
Ya, I understand WHY that was the perception, and to an extent, the truth, and I am also aware of their differences in style and influence, it's just beneath all the perception, before their celebrity status, the Beatles were roughnecks from the shittiest place on the planet, while the Stones were ostensibly pretty boys. The Stones were sloppier and had rougher voices, which gave them that swagger. Richards' rhythm guitar is irreplaceable.
Well actually none of the Elvis years appealed to me, not sure where you read that. The white jumpsuit Vegas years were entertaining for you? Fat, bloated and drugged? Early Elvis is great, beyond that I lose interest quickly.

I agree. Not many people know that.Ya, I understand WHY that was the perception, and to an extent, the truth, and I am also aware of their differences in style and influence, it's just beneath all the perception, before their celebrity status, the Beatles were roughnecks from the shittiest place on the planet, while the Stones were ostensibly pretty boys.
Just something I've always found interesting. Nothing more.

Not sure how Liverpool was one of the worst places on earth. Is this more Beatled hype. Yeah it was war ravaged as was most of Europe. But I can't see where crime rates were worse than other areas like Chicago, NY, Berlin etc. I'd like to read why it was considered the worst place on earth if anyone has a link.I agree. Not many people know that.
I think he was comparing growing up in the poor section of Liverpool to London where Jagger grew up and Jones with their private school educations. Don't forget also that the Beatles got their start on the Reeperbahn, the seediest place in Europe. Not sure how Liverpool was one of the worst places on earth. Is this more Beatled hype. Not that it really makes a difference.
That would make sense versus one of the worst places on earth.I think he was comparing growing up in the poor section of Liverpool to London where Jagger grew up and Jones with their private school educations. Yeah, The Sudan, Somalia, North Korea to name a fewThat would make sense versus one of the worst places on earth.
I guess they were a lot better than the guys in Badfinger and John Fogerty...Brian Epstein cost the Beatles multi millions of dollars but who knew it would become that big and last this long. I think they thought they might last a year so he took every shitty deal offered. It seems the Beatles themselves were not very good businessmen either.
