In 2007-2008 LSU was 12-2 and won the NC. Also 12-2 was OSU but they lost head to head in the NCG. Also 12-2 was Georgia and Missouri. LSU had a non-quality loss to Arkansas. Then Missouri crushed Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl. Both of Missouri's losses were to a top ten team; Oklahoma. I understand that the way things played out LSU had to be crowned. But from a distance and retrospective view Missouri had just as good of season and so did Georgia. That was a year that needed a playoff.

Missouri still wouldn't have made a 4 team playoff that year.

1978 Oklahoma beat every team they played but got out voted by an 11-1 Alabama.

WTF was the AP thinking.
In hindsight, it's pretty pathetic.

Discus

But didn't win EVERY game they played.
I.E. Not the whole story

Nov 11, 1978

Oklahoma 14
Nebraska 17

Nebraska had lost it's season opener @ Alabama 20-3.

Fluke
8 fumbles, 6 lost and you only win by 3.

In the rematch, it was obvious.

You're still not telling the whole story.
The rematch was only a 7 point Oklahoma win (31-24), where Alabama had beaten Nebraska by 17. Alabama didn't need no rematch.
Rematches typically favor the team that lost the first game, so Oklahoma should have won the rematch.

Oh yeah, those fumbles? Big hits and no Sooner Magic that day.

Dude
It was 31-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Nebraska scored in the last seconds of the game to make it appear it was closer than it was. It wasn't close at all. Oklahoma dominated that game from start to finish.

If you had watched it live, you would know this.

Argue semantics all you want.

Alabama didn't lose to Nebraska. Oklahoma did.

That's why the Tide got the nod.

Well
I'm claiming it because I watched it all happen.
Alabama had a really good team.
Oklahoma did too.

We beat every team we played.

1988- Screwed by referees in South Bend, Cleveland Gary didn't fumble that was such bullshit. Miami was the best team in the country that year.

2002- Everyone knows what happened here, a terrible PI call cost them the Natty.
Fine. You can have Cleveland Gary if you give us Chudzinski’s “incomplete” catch after he took like 4 steps with the ball. Also, the last “TD” to set up the failed 2 point play wasn’t a catch.

ND still wins.

In 1989, Notre Dame beat every one they played, except Miami (Fl.). Miami had a loss to Florida State. National Champion: Miami.
In 1993, Notre Dame beat everyone except Boston College, including a win against Florida State. Florida State's only loss was to Notre Dame. National Champion: Florida State

Now, I'm not going to Aggie it up and go claiming titles that Notre Dame didn't earn. But I do find the pattern perplexing.

Oh- I'm also not going to mention 1948, where they simply kept re-voting until they gave it to Michigan.
