This is what Don James did to Switzer and Osborne. 3 - 0.
This is difficult...
10. Bob Devaney
9. Frank Leahy
8. Robert Neyland
7. Fielding Yost
6. Woody Hayes
5. Barry Switzer
4. Urban Meyer
3. Bear Bryant
2. Nick Saban
1. Tom Osborne
call me biased, but TO has a better winning percentage (83%) than everyone else I listed (only exception is Urban Meyer at 85%, but TO has coached 9 more years than Meyer currently). He also has 3 national titles, 12 Big Eight titles, 1 Big 12 title, and he never won less than 9 games and never lost more than 3 his entire coaching career. And a very classy guy.
It's pretty sad that 1/2 of your top 4 got fired from their school....1) Woody Hayes
2) Urban Meyer
3) Jim Tressel
4) Earle Bruce
10) John Cooper
He did less with less when we had him.Mike Price did more with less while at Washington State than just about anyone that ever coached the game.
If you're going to use transitive reasoning in this debate you mind as well put them in a circle.... or maybe that's a circle you want to be in the middle of and that was the whole point of this thread?!?!?I'm sorry, but Barry Switzer owned Tom Osborne, so you have to reverse those.
TO and Barry was buddies dough. Also, see last line for correction. This much is true sure... but we are talking all time careers, not head to heads.
TO: Coached 25 years. Went to 25 bowls.
Switzer: Coached 16 years. Went to 13 bowls.
TO: 255-49-1
Switzer: 157-29-4
TO: 83% win percentage
Switzer: 82% win percentage
TO: Never won less than 9, never lost more than 3.
Switzer: Had 3 seasons below 9 wins... same 3 seasons had more than 3 losses.
TO: 12 Big Eight titles, 1 Big 12 title
Switzer: 12 Big Eight titles.
TO: 3 claimed natties
Switzer: 3 claimed natties.
TO: very classy guy
Switzer: son of a whore
Gibbs and Blake are tied imo
Nothing is worse then John Blake.
He switched his offense to a wishbone during the week mid-season.
He totally changed offenses 3 times in one season.
Brandon Daniels started at QB, WR and Safety in the same season.
True but I do give johnny a little bit of a pass since the national championship team was a lot of his players
Bowden, interesting. John Gagliardu
2. Eddie Robinson
3. Nick Saban
4. Tom Osborne
5. Joe Paterno
6. Amos Alonzo Staff
7. Pop Warner
8. Knute Rockne
9. Bobby Bowden
10. Bud Wilkinson
Robert Neyland.
Everyone coaching football (even Nick Saban) lives by his seven maxims.
His incomparable record includes an un-scored-upon season.
/thread.
Hell, most of the turdheads didn't even follow ooym's instructions and stick to the list. But, that ain't nuttin' new. I'm just a real obedient sumbitch!Funny thing I've noticed about this thread.
If these lists were turned into a poll, Nick Saban would easily be #1 and Bear Bryant #2, all the while neither of them would have a single 1st place vote.
Oops, I take that back, just noticed @Deep Creek put Saban #1.
