10.1 is a rounding error over 10.071

8.928 is how you win championships.

Either they consider BYU a P5 to satisfy the rule or there is no rule at all.

The entire rule was basically put in for Miss St and Texas A&M to get them off their asses. A&M went a few years there without playing a good OOC game when they came to the SEC and Miss St until here lately is usually struggling to get bowl eligible.

I think the overall point is to get a quality OOC opponent. A few years ago BYU was doing better overall it seemed and they would kind of fit that bill. Lately, not so much.

I don't think Boise St is listed, but I'd also consider them in that category even though they are "G5". They are consistently better than many "P5" teams.

What matters in reality is a quality opponent. So when BYU is better, then it fits the criteria, and when they aren't it doesn't. I don't think of LSU as having played "10 P5" schools because they played BYU last year.

The labels themselves are stupid as usual.

There can’t be a rule unless they are counting Colorado st as a P5 team. See Arkansas OOC schedule the next two years.

FYP.

UT has had their butt out the bus window ever since Dickey stopped being AD. Hamilton was a disaster. Hart was place-keeper. Currie was Hamilton part deaux. Fulmer is a face-saver. The football program has been in disarray since Cuttcliffe left for the second time (the past ten years). They set program records for futility in 2017. The Vols opening OOC P5-game may have been scheduled years before, but the required clangage to survive it is 80-decible level.

Vandy has basked in their mini-streak of dismantling the hapless Vols in their past two meetings. Their OOC P-5 opponent is That Catholic School At The Bend in the River. If the Commode Doors somehow pull off a win, they'll need surgery to reduce the brass to survivable levels.

Mizzou has met Purdue a few times over the decades. They have a lopsided losing record to the Boilermakers, who actually have signs of life in their football program carrying over from 2017. To avoid the endangered species list will require copious polished brass.

The other games are annual OOC rivalries. As familiar as the other side of the pillow.

It’d be awesome if ya’s would stay in disarray until the second week of the season. At least on the football field. Thanks

Wisconsin signed with BYU to play the 2017-18 series in 2012. BYU was has a good hostory at that time winning 10 or more games 5 out of 6 years. They also finished the season ranked in the Top 25 AP 4 of those 6 years.

When you are scheduling that far out, you don't always get what you thought you'd have.

In all fairness, is BYU a P5 equivalent? I won’t complain if they are, but they sucked balls last year, and before that they never got much better than a good MW team after leaving the MW. It should be decided now once and for all.

NO!

The going got tough: ND to rethink scheduling

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says the school will examine its future scheduling approach with the College Football Playoff in mind after falling out of this season's race with two November losses.

The Irish rose to No. 3 nationally before falling 41-8 at Miami on Nov. 11, their second loss of the season. Notre Dame finished the regular season at 9-3 after losing at Stanford in its finale. It faced four teams in the top 16 of the final CFP rankings and five teams in the final Top 25. Four of Notre Dame's final six games took place against ranked opponents.

The 14th-ranked Irish face No. 17 LSU on Monday in the Citrus Bowl presented by Overton's.

"We didn't have that breather game the week before one of our rivals," Kelly told ESPN. "There's some other conferences that have it built in, and they do it for a reason, and it works out well for them. That's really an institutional decision, and we're going to have to sit down, we're going to have to look at it hard. We thought the 13th [data] point was really important, right? But that doesn't seem to be that important anymore.

"It seems like the goal posts shift and move a little bit as it comes to how you get in, and this schedule is really, really difficult."

Notre Dame's scheduling agreement with the ACC calls for five games per season against league members. The Irish have annual rivalries with USC, Stanford and Navy, and frequent series with opponents like Michigan State, which it visited this season. In 2015, Notre Dame's only losses came on the road against Clemson and Stanford, and the Irish finished eighth in the final CFP rankings.

Asked if a different approach to scheduling could upset Notre Dame fans, Kelly replied, "I know this: They're mad because we didn't make the playoffs. So if you win 'em all, they can't be mad at you. We've got to play our five ACC schools, so you can't have everything."

Notre Dame's 2018 schedule opens with Michigan at home, and features road games against USC, Virginia Tech and Northwestern, and home contests with Stanford and Florida State. Future opponents outside ACC opponents, USC, Stanford and Navy include Michigan again in 2019, Georgia in 2019, and Wisconsin and Arkansas in 2020.

Ya but the NCAA does not recognize them as a p5
So no they aren’t. The schools don’t decide on who’s a who in football.
Tell that to the ACC, B1G 10 and SEC.
