If he's top 5 halfway through the season I will shit a golden brick and ship it you in Seattle Harold. Gimme Hilton all day long and twice on Sundays. I went through this shit with Gordon the year he was supposed to come back in October or November and then he "voluntarily" check himself into rehab right before he was supposed to come back since he knew he was going to fail another test. This guys gives new meaning to fucking stupid. Even when he knew he had to stay clean he couldn't do it. There is no chance he gets through this season without failing another drug test. He's going to have one game that he has 1 catch for 8 yards and quits on his team again in the 3rd quarter and he'll get benched and then he will go and get high after the game. He's on the list of guys I wouldn't draft because I refuse to root for him.

Well you held onto him for quiet a while before cutting bait and yes if he becomes great again I expect you will shit some kind of a brick.:dhd:

I got him off waiver wires and just turn down a offer for a WR that had a much better season then Hilton and younger to boot. My thinking is a WR2 isn't going help me much, might win a game or two with said player but that about it. If Gordon craps out I am out a player I got off waivers and I'll be high in the draft order. If he makes a comeback and becomes a top WR again then I hit the jackpot and I can trade him for someone that actual makes a difference or ride him to the playoffs.

As for Hilton, if I knew Luck will be back and can play at his peak his first year back then I might reconsider ( probably still go with Gordon though). However Hilton is 28, if Luck isn't back to form this year Hilton will likely have a season like last year again and then he'll be 29 with back to back poor seasons. Not sure what to expect from the Colts offense this year or the Browns for that matter. However if both Hilton and Gordon play their best this season, Gordon will be the better more valuable player, not even close IMO and I need a home run with a WR given the state of my WR corp in general.

I'm a gambler and will take calculated risk if the potential return is great enough. That's not for everyone and that's OK ,each to his own on risk/ reward moves.

Honestly I didn't even look at rosters when I commented on it, but I do understand your logic especially in a non-ppr league like D1 where your WR2 typically scores only 5-7 points a week.

No reason you have keep Gordon long term. Think he’s motivated enough to stay out of trouble for a season or two, seeing how hard it was to restart his career. He’s very capable of being one the top WR in the league. He does that his value skyrockets to much more then a 28 year Hilton coming off a terrible season and no way of knowing if Luck is actually OK.

Then you start entertaining trade offers.

You will never get full price for Gordon though because of the permaban threat.

As for production next season? Hilton is just as likely to have a monster as Gordon is. Maybe even more so. Gordon has played like 5 games in 4 years and really has not done anything special since his breakout season. Besides, the Browns currently have the worst QB situation in the NFL. They surely will upgrade, but with who?

Is it possible he has learned and will actually play up to his massive potential? Sure. But he is also on the top 5 list of all time NFL knuckleheads. Not sure I want to bet on that. Even if he does manage to stay on the field, are we sure that he is still an elite playmaker?

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that some are actually picking Gordon here.

I can assure you that if Gordon has a half season of good play his trade value will be much better then Hilton. I all ready received a offer that some would consider better then Hilton.

Gordon ceiling is much higher then Hilton is IMO. Yeah lower floor by a mile also, which is what scares folks. A good season or half a season will reassure folks.

Browns have a bad situation at QB, but Colts QB situation isn't great either. I like Gordon chances of producing with sub par QB play then Hilton.

You want see over the top optimism on Gordon go read RotoWorld forum on Gordon 2018 outlook.

It depends for me. If all things are equal and you have to spend the same capital to get either player give me Hilton because of the risk. However if you can pass on Hilton and get Gordon later or give up less to get him I go Gordon.

I dont know what it is but I like me some Josh Gordon!

Gordon's 1646 yards was impressive but I think too much is being made of that monster season.
Did a quick search of all WR since 1977 to have more than 1600 receiving yards.
There's only 18 of them.
Not a lot of repeat names either.
Jerry Rice only appears once.
But so does Victor Cruz.
So those 1646 yards could have been a rare fluke.
And not something to expect again.

I say Hilton easy before Gordon as for all the reasons already stated above

Also it’s Foot asking. If he chooses do ya really think he would trade Gordon if he starts well

Can’t deal that speed.

How healthy is Luck's shoulder?

Almost seems like Gordon is LESS risky.

You are making one really huge assumption.

You are betting that Gordon still has the same talent and ability he had in 2013. After all that time away, that is far from given.

As for the Hue Jackson quotes, he talks up everybody. Last year, he talked up Isaiah Crowell so much that many were drafting him in the 2nd round. How did that work out?

Lastly, if they finally have a decent personnel guy in place, they have enough ammo between draft picks and cap space to get competitive in a hurry. If they are an 7-9 team with mediocre QB play and good defense, Gordon might not get enough chances to be elite even if he plays a full 16.

Sure.

But I don't think that is the question at hand. I would rather spend 60 cents on Gordon than a dollar on Hilton.

Fair enough. I find it hard to believe these two would be in a situation for a straight up trade though

Yea B I'm actually a Gordon believer. That fact that he said clean all last year and was able to get on the field gives me the feeling maybe he has matured enough or maybe he just realized how much money is out there waiting for him. I think something clicked for him.

He got close enough to age 30 to realize he could smoke all the weed he wanted in his 40s, 50s, and 60s with or without 50 million dollars.

I'm at work so I don't have time, but if somebody could look up Gordahns last failed test that would be cool. Maybe Imma sucker but at least right before he was reinstated he was saying and doing all the right things. If I remember correctly he was even saying the right things after the season ended too. I watched as many of the highlights from tBrowns games (typing that make me puke) after he was reinstated and I have to say he really looked like a team player to me. He only caught one TD but he was the first guy to be congratulating team mates after TD's and shit. I think he may have grown up...........................however, another year of Kiser would make me balk at paying the price he is gonna cost in redraft leagues.................but I do get to keep him fer a 15th in a keeper so there is that...........
