Lienart and Weinke are the ones that stand out to me as the biggest flops. Probably because I remember them being so dominant in college and seemed to have all the things that make great NFL QB's.

Please put an * next to Eric Crouch's name. He was not the deserving winner of that years Heisman, just like Nebraska was not deserving to face Miami in that years NCG.

People make these lists all the time, but they really have nothing in common.

The NFL and College are two totally different games.

The Heisman is not a trophy naming the next great NFL Player. It is a trophy naming
the best college football player of the year.

Exactly
Some of these "busts"made pretty good coin, for their time spent in the NFL

Great question. Thing is, even a blind man could’ve seen it coming too.

Amazingly a TON of people didn't see it coming

I for one was labeled a hater for pointing out he never ran a single play the way it was drawn up, never hit a single hot route in college, or threw a quick out. He never threw a single WR open or made ANY NFL throws. He threw a lot of passes up for grabs or scrambled around until the defense lost the WR. That doesn't work at the next level and it was painfully obvious to quite a few of us then

Well that was intention of the Heisman. The trophy now goes to the best player that touches the football on a top 25 team. OL, DL, and LBs need not apply

Ty Detmer over Rocket Ismail was only the second biggest travesty that football season. The phantom clipping call against Colorado being the first.

While Crouch may belong on the list, #2 is way too high. There are several more deserving. To prove that this is not a homer post, I would submit Mike Rozier and maybe even Johnny Rodgers for consideration.

Leinart is probably second to Luck in terms of hype that I can remember since the turn of the century. Would've been the guaranteed top pick had he declared for the 2005 Draft. What a flop he ended up being.

Which is why it seemed too perfect that the Browns traded up for him. Match made in heaven.
