But the article doesn't say they got a bump in the formula. It's just the way they did it doesn't put their picks in jeopardy. The ones they already have.

Ok. Fair enough. What I was trying to connote was by not including hoyer in the trade it 'helped' then in the compensatory pick department.

yeah, and 5 fewer than the year before. point?

Point is, Matt Cassell won more games than Tom Brady, Brady happened to luck into the playoffs, I cant hold it against Cassell that everyone decided to be great the year he was QB

I stopped posting for a quick minute as the site invited me to explore Philippine Women, turns out it's a trick.

16-0 in 2007 - division title, playoffs
11-5 in 08 - no playoffs, no division title
10-6 in 09 - division title, playoffs

that 09 team suuuucked. they were LUCKY to win 10 games. that was on the front office. that was the ray rice 85 yard 1st play carry right?

that team had no business winning a division title, let alone hosting a playoff game. laurence maroney the leading rusher at 3.9 per, and randy moss was slowly dying before our eyes.

huh?

brady had 28 TD's and a 97 rating. 5th in passing yards. 6th in TD's. 9th in rating. he was a top 10 QB. they blew the team up that offseason, and he won arguably his best MVP the following year. 36 TD's to 4 picks.

front office. its well documented around here. they took the blame. they ran Adalius thomas out of town to get rid of him. dropped guys like maroney. added pieces to the line.

they drafted terribly over that span too.

Kraft ain't goin' anywhere.....he's the owner, he writes the checks. Correct.
Belichick is the third man out if there is truly a division and parting of the ways. Correct.
Brady ain't goin' anywhere....he's the catalyst that generates the electricity and success on the field. Incorrect. Belichick is the only GOAT on that team. Brady is the beneficiary of playing for the GOAT

When Brady stays, and Bill goes, New England will go 7-9 next year.

I'm not so sure the Patriots will have be going 12-4 or greater with Brian Hoyer at QB

For some reason I'm not sure Belichick wants to basically start over at this point either.

Getting his system in place
Getting the players he like
Training the Owner.

He has a pretty decent setup in New England now.

The patriots got much more than a second round pick.

For one, they got Hoyer in the deal. The pats would not have traded Jimmy to the 49ers unless the 49ers agreed to RELEASE Hoyer as opposed to include him in the trade. The pats would have never traded Jimmy to the Browns (or any other team) bc nobody else could given them a back up QB they were comfortable with. Why did the pats insist that hoyer be released as opposed to included in the deal? Two reasons.

First, hoyer has guaranteed money left on his existing contract. By releasing hoyer the 49ers must pay him that money. If he had been included in the trade the pats would have had to pay it. Now, the pats can sign hoyer for less money bc part of his salary is being paid by the 49ers.

Second, by not including hoyer in the trade the pats don't get dinged on the compensatory pick formula that is done every year. Now I'm gonna pretend that I understand the formula, how it works, how hoyer not being traded affects that, etc but I did read that including hoyer in the deal would have adversely affected the pats in that formula therefore he was released.

So, the pats REALLY got a second round pick, a veteran backup QB that they are comfortable with at a reduced price for the next couple of years and a little bump in the compensatory pick formula.

Brian Hoyer sucks. Granted he has some experience but I'm sure SF didn't think too heard giving up Hoyer

Yeah he can move to NY and listen to THOSE dipshit fans!.

"Oh poor Eli, his feelings are hurt"
"Oh Poor Eli, you don't do that to a Superbowl winning QB"

To see Eli get canned by Bellichick (so fast your head would spin) would almost be worth it.
