I think the Fox broadcasts of the games pretty much suck, and they took the worst people from ESPN for their personalities.

So it's too bad that stuff isn't included in the deal. Maybe as part of the deal, ESPN can show them how to properly broadcast a college football game....or at least clue them in that throwing their NFL stuff over it is really off putting. Throw a little fucking money at it and get some college shit going.
I prefer the Fox college games. Less fluff than ESPN. I prefer that. Feels more like older times game coverage. But I don't really pay attention to announcers, so maybe I don't notice it much.

You mean it feels more like NFL coverage? Because that's what it is, they took their NFL stuff and threw it on college football.

And their personalities are 100% trolls and clickbait artists. I really can't think of any that I take seriously.

Disney would acquire Fox’s movie and TV studio, networks including FX and National Geographic, and international assets including Star India’s TV channels and a 39 percent stake in European satellite provider Sky Plc. Disney would also get Fox’s stake in U.S. streaming-video provider Hulu, doubling its ownership to 60 percent. 21st Century Fox would keep Fox News, the Fox broadcast network and Fox Sports 1.

Don't think this affects sports as much as it does the movie industry. But this really sucks because Disney owning FX would fuck up actually good TV shows.

The only sports implications this would have is the regional Fox sports channels, Fox Sports Southwest, etc. I know Fox Sports southwest owns tier 3 rights for a few Big 12 schools, so that's something. But FS1 stays with the Fox company.

It has nothing to do with sports, people still aren't reading that. It's an important thing to note - especially because this is on a sports forum. The merger has nothing to do with ESPN or Fox sports.

It has no impact on either Fox or ESPN's sports companies.

Any Links?

I haven't yet seen any info on the matter of Fox's sports properties such as the regional Fox sports networks like Fox Sports Detroit (which broadcasts Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons games), and the BTN. Does anybody have a link which includes info on the fate of BTN ownership and the regional Fox sports networks? Some of the BTN personalities are also Fox and FS1 personalities such as Dave Wannstedt, Les Miles, etc.

Disney-Fox deal in final stages, could be announced Thursday

Not sure about BTN though.

Disney isn’t taking the national channels because they are concerned about government blocking the deal if they were included. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fox turn around and unload those channels to someone else in a separate deal. If I was CBS I would be looking hard at them to consolidate and improve what they have been trying to build plus the sports will give them additional content for their streaming service.

ESPN tries to make it like a college party, telling jokes, laughing, jabbing each other. It's pretty obnoxious.

How do we know for sure? Please give a link where it states that sports won't be affected.

Check this out......the following linked story states: "......its impact will be truly seismic for both the sports world and the television industry as a whole."

Disney reportedly in talks to acquire Fox Sports regional networks (but not FS1) in potential 21st Century Fox sale

So.....who really knows at this point? These internet articles are probably not very reliable at this early junction (before the deal is officially announced/completed).

Disney and Fox are closing in on deal, could be announced next week: Sources

Sorry, I trust CNBC move than Awful Announcing. The only sports side this affects is regional sports. Fox would keep Fox Sports, Fox News and all of those sorts of things. But TV and movie deals, including the stakes Fox owns of Hulu and the rights to the X-Men franchise and movie studios and TV channels like FX, Nat Geo.

Companies to not generally pursue mergers so that they can throw more money at anything.

Deal doesn't include Fox, Fox News or FS1/FS2. The only affect this will have on college football is the shitty games will be ESPN Midwest or whatever the hell they're going to call it, instead of Fox Sports Midwest.

Did none of you realize Disney bought Lucasfilm? That is all the merger is about, not sports.

There's a real possibility that this reshapes college football again, unless they are forced to divest Fox Sports for antitrust reasons.

ESPN is going to have complete control of the sport, and take over Fox's contracts with the B1G, PAC-12 and Big 12, unless these conferences have break clauses. Even then, it's not clear that anyone else has the resources to take over as network partner. Maybe CBS?

Why does everybody keep saying Disney when they mean ESPN? Yeah I know Disney owns ESPN. Pepsi Cola owns Pizza Hut. Hey let's go to Pepsi and get a pizza. Or let's go to Pepsi and get a Taco. They own Taco Bell also. Sounds ridiculous.

Y'all try to make fun of ESPN. Think where you would be on Saturday's without them?

I think Disney not wanting FS1 is telling.

I can understand them not seeking Fox News, they would want to change that and that
would cost them more money. So Fox News ain't going anywhere.

And the national sports stuff. They could gain a monopoly and they don't want anything
to do with it.

If I had to guess...I wouldn't be surprised to see in 6 to 12 months them selling ESPN.

ESPN cut their own throat changing their programming to highlight a Liberal view. They lost
half their customers. Disney is way liberal. Well, they can't go back and remove the liberal
view without it casting a bad light on them. Their only recourse would be to dump ESPN.

The big question would be...who do they dump it to?

FS1?
