SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — No Pac-12 football team that plays a Saturday road game will be required to play away from home again the following Friday in a revamped 2018 schedule.

Commissioner Larry Scott said Thursday that the Pac-12 Conference has discussed scheduling changes with its member universities to find a better solution for next season given concerns and scrutiny over the challenges of 2017.

“We’re going to have an improved schedule next year,” Scott said in a phone interview Thursday.

I hear every PAC team gets to play Mercer or Citadel . Washington doesnt have to play Sanford but once every five years, USC will only play WSU on leap years.

The announcement of Riley's return to Corvallis came as OSU also announced four other hires on Smith's staff.

OSU confirmed the hirings of former Colorado co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Lindgren and former Arizona offensive line coach Jim Michalczik. Lindgren will be the Beavers' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, while Michalczik will serve as the associate head coach, offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Michalczik previously coached at OSU from 1999-2001.


Jake Cookus has been retained as special teams coordinator after spending the past two seasons with the previous staff as the special teams quality control coach. The Roseburg native was a safety with the Beavers from 1998-2001.




Oregon State additionally added Mike McDonald as the team's strength and conditioning coach. McDonald has been the strength and conditioning coach under coach Chris Petersen for the past nine seasons at Boise State (2009-14) and Washington (2014-17). Smith joined Petersen's staff at Boise State as quarterbacks coach in 2012 and also followed him to Washington.



The Beavers have yet to announce any defensive staff hires.

Seriously though, with what I saw that kid do in that game with his foot falling off every other play, he may well be giving Mayfield a serious run for his money for the Heisman if he had stayed healthy.

Once again, all the big boys Phil called said Thanks, but no thanks, and they have to go with a plan C hire. Wilcox obviously turned them down as well. Harsin too. Thus Cristobal it is. Good recruiter and decent OC, but not P5 HC material. Phil will probably fire him in 3 years tops.
