Apparently Miss St has made the offer and Pruitt has to decide. I can't see him not taking the job.

Guy is an arrogant asshole who probably believes he can succeed in Starkville. Love this hire and want to see him fail miserably.

Jimbo Fisher is the only one that has done Jack squat and he is more of a Bowden tree product going back to his Auburn days.

Yeah I hear he is a little rough around the edges. Will be interesting.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Jeremy Pruitt as UGA's D-coordinator.

I'm glad he went back home to Bama though. Zero complaints with Mel Tucker.

I haven't seen anything about an offer, just saw they were going to interview both him and Venables

Miss State is probably the least attractive open P5 job. Oregon State might be in contention, but at least there, you don't have to compete with Bama every year.

But of the two, I'd definitely rather have Venables.

That's why Mullen did such a fantastic job there and people who don't acknowledge that are nuts. Miss State is not going to be able to replace him.

On par with Vandy before Mullen, will return to the cellar without him.

They might luck up and hire a coordinator that turns out to be a real good head coach that gets them relevant for a few years before bolting for a better job at some point, but nobody of Mullen's quality will stay there as long as he did.

I definitely can't see them doing any better than what they had, whoever takes over at least has a lot back from this year's team

Mullen really took his time building the program up, had a few solid bowl seasons to start out and cause them to keep him around, slowly they started getting better under his watch but only really had the headliner season in 2014 so for the most part it was kept somewhat quiet allowing him to stay around for a while.

We probably just saw the best years in Mississippi State football history, that and the Ole Miss sanctions probably means the two will go back to being the bottom of the West

Ole Miss at least has Oxford going for it, Starkville is a exactly what you think Mississippi is like if you've never been to Mississippi.

Speaks perfectly to me, as I have never been to Mississippi....it is intentional too, I have no plans to ever visit Mississippi or even go through it

Starkville has actually really grown the last 15 years and is getting more and more attractive. Plenty of kids from my neck of the woods are getting great scholarship money to go there. Especially architecture and vet majors.

The are recruiting my youngest daughter for the vet school pretty aggressively.

Such is the bane of the lower echelon of the P5 schools. Work their ass off to stay out of the cellar and catch lightening in a bottle every few years, then revert back to just staying out of the cellar.

But, hey, they are getting a shitpot full of money so all is good.
