Yup and Purdue just doesn't impress me. They can shoot so some days they will look good. But watching them vs Marquette I wasn't impressed. They were just simply too big for us.

If a team has size Purdue has not much to offer

I've watched the last half of the 1st half and the start of the 2nd half, and they don't look good. Haas is 7'2 but he doesn't play like it on the defensive end, and his hands are awful. That other 7 foot Freshman just doesn't look big enough right now either, from a physicality standpoint.

Well usually the beginning of the year is riddled with easy games. Look at Duke. Aside from Michigan State, they've played Elon, Utah Valley, Southern and Furman. Tomorrow, they play Portland State. They get a bit of a challenge when they play either Butler or Texas, but then back at it with South Dakota, St. Francis(PA), Boston College and Evansville.

Elon= kenpom #126
Furman = kenpom #143
Utah Valley = kenpom #153

There's a huge difference between those three opponents and the opponents NCSU have played. Not every mid and low major are the same.

NCSU's opponents would lose to the top of Division II. Duke's wouldn't, with the exception of Southern.

Interesting note:

Haas committed to Wake Forest under Jeff Bzdelik. He decommitted on NSD, and flipped to Purdue. Wake's staff had lost contact with him for about a month before that. Apparently, Haas started listening to the rumors that Jeff Bzdelik was supremely hated by the Wake fan base and was going to be canned soon.

I would have loved to see Haas play for Danny Manning. Manning could have probably turned him into a 1st round pick.

I don’t even know what refs see anymore. It’s almost like they deemed it not worth it when Purdue could have had a legit chance to tie the game.

Pretty big loss for Purdue. Instead of playing Nova now, they'll now play Western Kentucky. Most of the B1G teams already had pretty crappy OOC schedules, them losing the good games they played will leave a lot to be desired come March.

I'd be surprised if they finished in the top 10 of the ACC this year. Their roster is probably worse than last season and they were a train wreck last year.

Kevin Keatts will do wonders for this program. Also, they got two decent transfers and a 4 star recruit. They aren't as bad as they were last year. They've made many improvements.

I know it's only the first half, but Nova is trailing WKU. :scratch::scratch::scratch:

One of those transfers isn't eligible this season so that won't really help them. Freeman from Baylor isn't much different than Rowan who they lost last year, and Batts Jr. and Beverley aren't really significant enough to make an immediate contribution, it'll take time for them.

They lost Dennis Smith, Henderson and Rowan from last year's team. They might be better just because they have a better coach, but they'll still be a bottom tier ACC team. If they finish anywhere from 1-9 I'd be surprised.

They definitely aren't a contender for the title or anything like that. But they won't be as bad as they were last year. Freeman and Hunt from NCA&T are the transfers I'm seeing that I like. I'm gonna say they win at least 20 games and they'll finish around 7th or 8th in the ACC.

My bad thought you were talking about CJ Bryce from Wilmington in regards to the transfer. I'd be shocked if they won 20. I just don't see a way they can finish .500 in league play, which will require that. Winning 20 would mean they make the tournament. I don't think they're better than the following: Duke, UNC, UVA, ND, Louisville, and Miami for sure. I know for sure they'll be better than Pitt, and maybe Ga. Tech, at least IMO, but that's probably it.

eh, Sam Hunt isn't very good. Freeman was a decent add, as he'll be able to hit it from deep at a solid percentage.

I'm not sure what the potential of this NCSU team is. They're a pretty big wildcard, IMO.

They'll probably be better than Wake, unless Wake gets their head out of their ass. I read that Wake is the 15th tallest team in D1, but the group that gets the majority of the minutes would be ranked in the 200's. That is hysterical.

I thought about Wake, and based on the results I'd probably lean NC State to be better, but I think Wake has more talent and for some reason it hasn't clicked. You guys play a home and home with them. Wouldn't surprise me to see a split of those.

This might be naive of me, but I think Wake is a simple lineup change from getting back on track. Manning has been trying a small ball lineup, because four of his best five players are probably Crawford (6'3), Woods (6'3), Brown (6'5) and Childress (6'). Those four games playing at the same time is horrible on defense because they're going to get abused by D1 SF's and PF's all day long. Surprisingly enough, that lineup also has major chemistry issues on offense. This explains the 1-4 start, IMO. Wake needs to ditch that lineup and give guys like Eggleston and Mitchell more time at the 3. Maybe, also give Sarr some run at the PF spot. There is small ball, and then there is midget ball. Wake has attempted the latter, and it has been a disaster.

I would agree with that. Also, maybe Mitoglou ended up being a bigger loss than expected. He wasn't great, but it gave Wake some diversity within their line up.

No way NC State will contend at all in ACC play or for the ACC title. But I think they will be better than at least Pitt, Georgia Tech, Wake and BC. That puts them in 11th. Other teams they could be better than is Clemson, FSU and Va. Tech. There's a long shot of them being better than Cuse but that might be a stretch and even I will admit that is a very out there prediction, but I wouldn't be surprised if NC State tops Cuse in the standings this year. I really think Keatts makes a huge difference in this Wolfpack team.

Sam Hunt isn't good because he played on a shit Aggies team that only won 3 games last year lol

I will agree, it's a very big wildcard. Definitely.
