Nebraska is a broken program and will be even after this next coach. They haven't had a top 20 recruiting class since 2011 and have only had 2 in the last 10 years (2007/2011). Not many teams are going to do well without regular top 20 talent. If their next coach can recruit, maybe in 3-4 years they can start to compete at that higher level.

if they get Frost. Just put them in
Nebraska could bring in Bill Belichick and it wouldn’t get into the CFP for quite some time. They need recruiting classes along with the coach.

CFB is all about collecting the most talent. Those are the teams you will find in the CFP. Top 25 recruiting classes aren’t going to cut it — you need regular top 5, top 10 classes. You may get a team to slide in like a Michigan State every now and then, but the days of a coach walking on campus and turning a program completely around are over unless you already have the talent.

I don't agree with that, entirely.

A new coach isn't going to take a team to the playoffs in his first year, but a new coach
can turn the program around. It happened at your place.

Harbaugh turned Michigan around his first year.

It's probably just semantics, but we would have to define..."turning around."

Has he? 4th in the division isn't much of a turnaround

Harbaugh was also working with two previous top 10 recruiting classes. Nebraska doesn't have near the talent Michigan did on it's roster when Harbaugh took over.

Nebraska has a long way to climb. They no longer get partial qualifiers, they have scholarship limits they didn't used to have, tuition is far higher at all schools to the point where they won't get the quality of walk-ons they once did, and other schools have caught up in strength training.

Plus, they don't have the guys getting arrested for roid rage incidents like they did back when they were winning.

Again...it's semantics.

Mich was 20-18 .526 the 3 years before he arrived.

His 2+ years Mich is 28-8 .778.

I think that's a big turnaround. Sure looks like it.

It may not reach their expectations but it is a turnaround and a big one.

As others have said Nebraska could hire the best coach ever but they need to increase their recruiting. Would be nice to see them get back their old glory.

Yes, I looked at my Crystal football and it said in 2047, the next time Nebraska has a winning season, they will make the CFP. So keep the Dream alive.

Butch Jones put two 9-4 season together in Tennessee...their first since 2007 and finished 6th, 4th, 2nd and 2nd in his division the first 4 years...just saying.

I know and I alluded to the locals expectations as being a factor.

UT gave Jones time. 2015 was a bit of a surprised and that furthered their
expectations. 2016 was a let down. They were expecting more than 9-4.

Dooley was 16-21 .432 in 3 seasons. Jones was 30-19 in 4 seasons .612
and that was a turnaround but 2016 was a let down. This year they tanked.
I don't think UT wants a couple of good seasons every couple of years. Michigan
doesn't either. They all went them every year. Harbaugh, to his credit hasn't
lost more than 3 in a season yet. As long as he's bettering their record and performance
folks will cut him some slack, as he strives to get them back into national contention.
If he winds up with 5 losses this year and something similar next year, they'll start
looking elsewhere also. Those folks or any folks for big-time programs are not going to
accept mediocre performances or inconsistent seasons. Keep going upward, you'll be
ok. Take a dip, folks will question it. Take a dip 2 years in a row...your tenure is in
trouble.

If Frost knows how to administer the slush funds properly, you guys will be back in no time.
