1. Nope, the closest was Ruben Sierra 1993 had a .678 OPS

2. The 40 extra base hits are tied for the 9th fewest in a 100 RBI season, the fewest is a tie between Wally Pipp in 1923 and Marv Owen in 1936 with 33.

3. Tony Armas is correct, he hit .218 in 1983 while driving in 107. 2nd lowest is Carlos Pena in 2009 who hit .227 while driving in 100.

Dios mio.

Fraudkees stranglehold on the AL ended with baseball's first expansion in 1961. Their championships have come far less frequently since then.

Sometimes

Sometimes evolution means quality is better than quantity. Humans used to have five extremities, counting the tail. Now all we have is a coccyx. Evolution did that, along with making the appendix obsolete.

I have three testicles.

I get what you're sayiing, but they did win back to back WS in 1961 and 1962 and went to 4 straight from '61-'64. It really just went into hiatus from 1965-1994 when they "only" won 2 World Series and "only" appeared in 4.

FiveThirtyEight.com is giving the Yankees a 32% chance of winning the World Series, and the Astros only 15%.

However, they're giving the Astros a 58% chance of winning on Friday, and 54% on Saturday.

Makes absolutely no sense

I wouldn't say no sense.

I'm sure it has to do with the fact that the Astros have to win two to get there. Meaning, even though the chances are favorable that the Astros will win either game in a vacuum, the chances of them winning both is somewhat less.

Still, they've given the Yankees more than double the chance to win the WS, which seems a little odd.

It's because they have double the chance of getting there.

George Will always used to scoff at old-timers who longed for the "Golden Age" of baseball, when things evidently were better, but he pointed out that the 3 New York teams won most of the Championships back then

Well the Dodgers only won once in Brooklyn and the Giants only won twice in New York after the Yankees won their first. It was mostly just the Yankees.
