Dombrowski just has to finish trading the rest of your minor league system and sign a couple more 30 year old arms with nowhere to go but down.

Brad has ridden that ride before.

god i hope he doesn't! BUILD THE FARM!

He won't be building the farm man.

Not his thing. But he is good at maximizing value on prospects. And he's great at identifying power starting pitching.

Sign J.D. Martinez. He's arguably the better hitter than Stanton over the last four years plus you're not depleting the farm for him. It would also cost less money.

I really hope the price/Eck thing wasn’t the reason.

Farrell’s response was literally the only option or you might as well have fired him at the all star break.

and move who out of the outfield? He isn't going to play first... I just don't see him doing that.

He’d have to DH.

He won't be building the farm man.

He hasn't had a lot of prospects he's really regretted trading. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Robbie Ray. Jurrjens had some good years in Atlanta but flamed out. Drew Smyly is meh.

Not his thing. But he is good at maximizing value on prospects. And he's great at identifying power starting pitching.

I'm fine with letting Farrell go if they have an actual replacement. I just don't want to see the Sox go for a retread manager. Letting Francona go was one of the dumbest decisions in franchise history.
Bobby Valentine is available.

He’d have to DH.

Don't think he'd want to do that either... But I don't want Hanley as the full time 1stbaseman either... Granted he wasn't good as a DH either

I can't see what you posted.

But i think JD is a huge add for whoever gets him. If him I. The outfield is the worst thing you have going for your team, you're gonna be real good. He's not a liability or anything.

That's was quoting @navamind, but for some reason wouldn't let me.

If it means moving Hanley to 1B and keeping his option from vesting, it's fine by me.

Hanley's option doesn't vest by him playing the bench.

I'm kinda thinking Carlos Santana may be their guy.

He'll be cheaper, can play 1B or DH, and is a switch hitter, so you can keep the platoon advantage and also continue to limit Hanley's time to prevent that option from vesting.

And we saw how the market for guys like Santana was last year...if you didn't sign first you were falling short of your contractual expectations.

Santana would be a good fit.

I thought so too.

And he won't require the LT deal that a guy like JD would.

Which the Sox REALLY need to avoid right now since their window is basically the next 2 years.

agreed. Outside of someone like Santana and maybe a caddy for Pedroia, I think they should stand pat this offseason. Santana could help alleviate their lack of production from 1B/DH and I think there's reason to be optimistic about the offense rebounding next year (even if they don't approach the 900-ish run pace set by the 2016 team). The bullpen looks good going into next season even if it's "inconsistent" (most relief pitching is inconsistent) and the rotation is pretty set for the foreseeable future. The priority should be trying to lock up Betts and co. to long term deals and rebuilding for the farm system. I think the lower levels of the Sox farm shows promise.
