If they're going to try to acquire an elite bat, I'd rather just try to pry Votto from the Reds. I think he'd be a great influence for the younger players with his hitting approach.

He has a NTC and supposedly little interest in moving.

Apparently they can't release Hanely or the option vests. That's what is being said on SOSH.

So basically he needs to rot on the bench enough to miss the 400 PAs he needs for that option to vest. So basically only hit him against some lefties. And take him out for defense after like 2ABs basically every game he's in.

wtf... lucky bastid with that contract

I once saw the numbers committed to Hanley, Castillo and Pablo moving forward. It was heartbreaking.

The good news for Castillo is he doesn't count towards the luxury tax right now.

The bad news for Castillo is if he got called back up apparently he would. So he's not seeing the field for Boston basically ever.

The real question now is who can the Sox get that's any better?

If Girardi loses tonight he might be available. He'd be ideal for me.

DD already said no manager under contract will be contacted.

Im guessing Alex Cora is gonna be the general favorite. But he may not want to do the Boston thing again.

Dombrowski just has to finish trading the rest of your minor league system and sign a couple more 30 year old arms with nowhere to go but down.

Brad has ridden that ride before.

I really hope the rumors of Gardenhire being a candidate are false. I'd almost rather have Bobby V.

That'd be wild to Jim manage again.

He's not even surly when he does interviews anymore. Borderline happy, lol.

He had a 108 ERA+ and over 200 innings in 2007. I'd consider that a good year.

Guys I'd like to see considered, just off the top of my head - Alex Cora, Gabe Kapler, Dave Martinez, DeMarlo Hale, Tony Pena, and Sandy Alomar, Jr.
