Agreed however it will be interesting if other teams fall in rankings that struggle to close wins against lesser teams or if thats just reserved for SC. Example should the number 2 team be beating a team by more than 7 points at home in 3rd qtr?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's because the media has rammed his name and image down our throats for the last 11 months or so? If they are going to hype him up as the next great 1st overall can't miss NFL QB you are damned right we as fans can and should 'fixate' on his performances and give commentary.

The injuries explain a lot about how flat the team looks. But, a heisman candidate and overall first pick type of QB should be able to play with less than their top weapons and at least not shoot themselves in the feet. Not winning a game such as that doesn't necessarily have to be on him, but 16/24 for 157 in the first half with 1 Int and 1 TD are not what should be expected. And beyond that, he has entirely failed the eye test.

Now he does have this second half to overcome that and make it just a sluggish start rather than a shit game. Clock is ticking though.

Rankings at this point are still too reliant on preseason perceptions. They autocorrect to a large degree by mid season - late season, but Cal is still being punished for being picked by most to be either last or second to last in the North before the year.

This Trojans team is not good at fourth down conversions this year.

If we could have converted a decent percentage of our go-for-its so far this year, we wouldn't have had a close game yet. It killed us against WMU, it killed us against Texas, and it's killing us again today

Honestly most SC fans are rational most of the time from what I've experienced up here. We are all guilty of homerism at times. Probably not easy for them to be down to Cal with all the expectations on them this year.
