NFL doesn't have a proper "minor league". I think it'd be beneficial to NFL hopefuls to have a place to play and showcase their talents for NFL teams. With injuries and roster turnover, this could be useful to both parties.

Shower thought sounded better than sitting on the pooper. A lot of thinking gets done on both.

I agree, it could be like a real training ground for NFL. I always promoted the stupid idea that NFL Europe should move all those dudes and their families to the States and make a pre-NFL summer league, which would increase input of talent. Squeeze it between all the other sports and you could have a winner.

Isn't that what it essentially already does for the NFL? Most people that can't make the practice squads or abide by the NFL rules go to the CFL. But the dropoff in talent is huge. CFL crossovers often get camp tryouts.

Exactly, they need to source better. Draft is not enough. Players drop like flies for all teams. Need more material and a good way to do that would be normalize basic things like size of field and # of downs.

Right? O-line and QB's could really use the work plus some smaller cities might be willing to support such teams

To some extent but the rules are fucky for no reason. Just use standard rule imo.

Exactly, the NFL Europe players would go to small markets, where there would be fair demand for the games.

Almost no boring as shit games in the CFL. Far too many in the NFL. CFL is a passing game on a passing field and the rules are set up for that. You keep your game and we'll keep ours.

But a lot of talent as feeding ground for NFL goes to waste or unnoticed. The leagues do not compete for TV time or anything, they should be more integrated.

The CFL is a very old league having had over 100 Grey Cup championships. If Canada had more of a population like the US has, the league would be huge. As it stands the rules in the CFL and NFL are significantly different as is the field and even the size of the footballs. American players who come here have some huge adjustments to make getting used to such a big field and only 3 downs.

Fair enough, good to get a Canadians perspective. Went to a BC Lions game a couple years back and had a blast.

My daughter and I went to a Montreal/Toronto game a few weeks back. The place rocked and the home team won! We can't pack 100k people into a stadium but we make up for it with noisy beer drinking!

All I know about the CFL is the field is wider and the offense can be in motion at the snap.

Thanks for the detail, did not know. I played a lot of rugby in high school, was a wing-forward, played an international school team tourney in Ottawa. Are you sure you're not talking about Rugby?
:heh:
Talking about size of field and ball.

I guess if you're a borderline NFL RB you shouldn't go to the CFL to try to prove yourself.

This is a CFL sized field. I think it's at a university. It gives the best view of the differences As you can see the playing surface is significantly wider, it's 110 yards long and the end zones are much deeper than the NFL end zones. All of which supports the wide open passing game that the CFL is. Note the two 50 yard lines
