No, I think it's the combination of the two.

As I stated before, if he were a better player, no team would GAF.

I think it's a convenient excuse to blame his play.

Because his play is not that bad.

It just lets folks off the hook for not wanting to say the other.

Like somebody said about Brady and Rodger's comments. Just the reverse.

I agree with that. Jets are better off not showing up at all lol. Save themselves the embarrassment.

The Jets and us fans have gotten used to embarrassments.

Wasn't the $10 million starter money? That's what the headline read? $10 million for Glennon right?

For whatever reason there were people high on Glennon. He was also a free agent so there was no need to trade or use a draft pick. I don't see it myself but I don't see Kaep making a meaningful difference in most places. No one really uses that offense anymore and will he be able to stay healthy? Was he a product of Harbaugh? Is it worth the backlash and distraction and will his idiot girlfriend be able to lay off the racist tweets? Lots to take in there rather than just "He's better than......"

Really? I thought he did adequately last year on a team that was shit. Hard to make cordon bleu out of chicken shit.

And injuries.

Wasn't he benched twice for Blaine freaking Gabbert?

In fairness, the only game I watched of him last year was against the Bears, where he had 5 total completions for 4 yards.

I agree, hard to judge him off last year. 14 TD's to 4 INT's is a nice number but that was about it other than his shoulder not breaking down.

I may be wrong on this but I think he had a clause in his contract that may have had this year kick in for 15 mil had he got hurt. That might be why they benched him. That or they just may have wanted to make sure they lost as much as possible to get the better pick. Considering how they robbed the Bears on draft day it certainly worked if that was their plan

He opted out of a contract. He didn't quit football you doofus.
He had a job in San Fran, he CHOSE not to stay. He quit. Look up the definition of quit, "doodus."

It's astonishing to me how many people choose to avoid facts to accommodate their political opinions/narrative.

You're a Hawls fan. After Kaep interviewed with Carroll what was the word up there as far as why they didn't want him?

They were going to release him regardless so him walking away made sense. He had no more guaranteed money and San Fran is like the Jets and Browns, tanking to try and get one of the QB's coming out next year so they weren't bring him back
!?!?!?! But why would an NFL team release such an amazing QB? Oh, that's right, because he sucked.
He quit and no amount of revision history will change that.

Josh McCown - $3M
Blake Bortles $3.25M
Scott Tolzien - $1.75M
Tyrod Taylor - $7.5M
Brian Hoyer - $2.95M

Kaep is better than all these guys, including Cutler and Glennon who are at $8M and $10M.
He's not better than Cutler, not even close.

I'm only a Hawks fan because of my son. I really don't pay that much attention to the details.
Thanks for reminding me about that avatar. I had a Chargers avi up but took it down when they left San Diego. I was and am still hoping that the Spanos family plane fly's into a mountain.

We didn't see Kap as a backup that would really fit in that scheme and we communicated that to him. So I think we've been very up front with it. But I think that is a fair characterization. Yes, he was not going to be here under the construct of his contract. We gave him the option: 'You can opt out, we can release you, whatever.' And he chose to opt out, but that was just a formality."

I still can't believe they left San Diego. Fucking shame the way these teams screw their fans. And half the time another team moves in. At least I know the Jets won't go anywhere, no one would take them
