THE NFL HAS GONE TO HELL
To be clear, ESPN "IR" means the following in standard leagues:
Why isn't my player IR eligible?
INJURY DESIGNATIONS
Our system uses the NFL's official disabled list to update players' injury status, so if the player in question on your team was recently put on IR then the system will register that change shortly. After the IR tag appears next to that player's name you'll be able to send him to an IR slot on your roster, but only if your league make use of that clutch feature.
In other words, they must be declared "OUT" for that game (or placed on IR offically). Once that designation is expired they will no longer be eligible. For week to week type 'injuries' where a player is not yet declared out the following week, you will not be able to make any roster moves until you remove them from the IR spot.
