I'd like to think Indiana has a chance.....but they don't; especially with Kevin Wilson on the opposite side of the field.

I'm not getting why people think that Indiana will keep it close or give Ohio State a good game.
Indiana just fired the best coach they ever had. He's gone. He's not there. It's not the same program it was last year.

Do people not know that Kevin Wilson is the Offensive Coordinator at Ohio State now????
You know, the guy that knows more about the Indiana players and their capabilities than the current coaching staff??

Will Kevin Wilson open up his playbook for Indiana and let Oklahoma know what he's going to do???
Or does he keep it plain vanilla and work out the problems when Oklahoma gets to town.

I'm pretty sure we know what Wilson is going to do so it's not like it's going to be some big surprise.
Shock and Awe. We'll bomb Indiana for 60+ to scare the Sooners. After beating Oklahoma in their own barn they will fold like lawn chairs in the Shoe.

I could see OSU sputtering for a drive or two starting off just getting acclimated to the new offensive weapons, but they're not starting rookies; KJ Hill and Johnnie Dixon have 8 years combined with the program. Wilson is so much of a better OC than what we had last year, it's hard to put into words. Indiana had a nice defense last year, but the reason they've given OSU a couple of close games recently is because Kevin Wilson is an offensive genius. Now he's on our sidelines.

This.

Wilson's knowledge of IU's players is a gigantic advantage. Not in their physical abilities
but their mental strengths and weaknesses. Any coach can look at film and know what a team will
or won't do. But having the knowledge of what makes each of IU's players tick is a really
big deal.

Plus, Wilson didn't leave the program and the players for greener pastures, IU booted him
out the door. After all taking IU to back-to-back bowls wasn't good enough. Maybe the
IU administration thought they were gonna find another Bill Mallory.

I know one thing for sure going into this contest. Kevin Wilson is gonna be focused.

Never bothered looking up the true meaning. Thanks for the info though.

Ohio State is so worried about the Oklahoma game that they schedule this game on scrub night so they have 10 days to prepare. They'll need it trying to break in new offensive alignments.

:comeatmebro:

Hey now don't you be worried about the Buckeyes on Thursday. You should be worried about UTEP. I don't know anything about the Miners this year but they could easily roll into Norman & leave town w/ a 2 TD win.

Saw the OSU depth chart officially came out with some interesting notes.

Looks like Weber must not be fully healthy as he's listed as a co-starter with Dobbins. Wouldn't be shocked to see Dobbins get the bulk of the carries.

Johnnie Dixon and Austin Mack get the start at WR, while it looks like KJ Hill or Parris Campbell will run out at HB.

No DE was given full-time starter status, with both sides listing co-starters between Bosa, Holmes, Hubbard and Lewis. That is terrifying for opposing offenses, as all 4 are very talented and can get to the QB.

Ward and Arnette get the starts at CB, while Webb gets the nod at one safety spot with Erick Smith and Jordan Fuller listed as co-starters at the other.

Should be an interesting first game to see who can separate themselves.

Indiana has played us tough in recent years, but I think we see a massacre this season.

Their oline is not good and they don't have much of a proven running game at all (looks like a unknown RB by committee situation at the moment)

This does not bode well for a QB who threw 17 INTs last year (to 19 TDs, along with only completing 57%) and is in no way a running threat. They have the 2 WRs in Westbrook and Cobbs (who may be suspended) but pretty much nothing outside of that, offensively.

If Ohio State's offense comes out clicking this gets 61-10 type ugly.

Indiana has a pretty good defense, but I'm really not seeing how they'll keep pace. Indiana could make it competitive, but I really don't see how they pull the upset.

LOL, no they don't.....

LOL, no they don't.....

They were 41st in total defense last year and return 9 starters on D.

That's pretty decent.....for Indiana at least. Probably a little better than the stats show considering their offense was very meh last season and they were on the field a lot.

I mean, not by B1G standards. Put them in the Big 12, and it's a different story...

From an efficiency standpoint IU and Texas were practically even last year in terms of defense. IU would have been the 4th best defense in the Big 12 last year. They were 8th in the B1G. Defense wasn't the reason IU struggled last year. They were terrible on offense and special teams last year. Last year was the best defense IU had under Wilson, and it wasn't even really close.

Very true. I've seen them listed as one of the 25 best defenses in the country this season, but I don't know if they'll play up to that given the (expected) limitations on offense with Wilson now gone.
