Well yes it was a better offer because Indiana would have got two double digit scorers instead of one and two first round draft picks that could have been to trade up for a better first round.

Neither would be a long term building block though. The Lakers offer would make the Pacers marginally better now, because I agree neither Clarkson or Randle is as good as Oladipo. Pacers win about 35 games either way.

Those late first rounders? They are assets for sure. Not worth anywhere near as much as a lotto pick though. Players in the late 20s have high bust rates and generally don't amount to more than rotational players when they hit. As for trade ups? Packaging both might get you to 15-18 range.

Those two draft picks would have been the deal and both Clarkson + Randle gives them two solid role players and a huge potential this year which is predicted to be a break out year for Randle. Clarkson is about as good as he ever will be in my opinion though - but still a solid bench player

Where do you think these charges will end up?

Probably nowhere but if Silver had some balls he'd strip the Lakers of their right to negotiate with the player in question during free agency if Magic were to be found guilty.

The NBA will never let that happen.

That is just it.

They are role players. Also, I do not think Randle has huge potential. His ceiling is probably about where Oladipo already is. Randle is a solid player.

Keep in mind, the package you are discussing are all the "expendables". The Lakers can't keep Clarkson or Randle if they are signing two max players next summer. Neither is part of the long term plans because they aren't difference making players. The Lakers know this. So do the Pacers.

Randle is just as good as Odapilo and younger and so far experts far more knowledgeable are saying Randle has tremendous potential this year and Sabonis is garbage in comparison the Pacers got one player and no drafts instead of two solid players plus two first round picks. That might not be as good as Paul George, but already know they were not going to get their value this quick - now if they had waited even a few weeks, then yes they could have done better. They screwed up really big time

In fact Oladip is going to be in his fifth year and isn't even as good as he was in his third year.

Yeah. You gotta be careful anytime you have a pitchfork near your ass.
I used to use them when tree trimming - they were really handy to pick up a lot of loose branches and toss them into the trailer for hauling away. They never came close -I was in that type of work for 13 years and never once had an injury to me or my employees

That's a "big if". What did Magic do, or say to be found quilty?

he rebounds...and hes pretty slick around the basket--- but hes not a good defender....cant shoot from the outside, and absolutely cant defend the rim....I gotta think you either need to be able to defend the rim/play defense or shoot from the outside to be a viable starting PF in todays NBA....Randle is still young- but i wouldnt want to pay what hes gonna demand to find out if he does/doesnt continue to develop.....

Yeah, he definitely will rebound, has good post moves, he's also quicker and faster than most 4's, has good handles and can go coast to coast as well. He's also a pretty good passer.

You're right about his defense. He's good on the perimeter, so he can guard stretch 4's. But a stretch 4 like, for example, Kevin Love who can play near the basket as well as hit the 3, would give him all kinds of trouble. Randle could defend him outside, but not in the paint. He'll also never be a rim protector. I think he'll max out at about Zach Randolph level, faster and more athletic, but not the defender Randolph has been.

His outside shot has been improving, but still has to get more consistent and a little more range. I don't think he needs to be a stretch 4, but he definitely needs to be able to hit consistently from 18-20 feet.

i mean- id rather have Oladipo...

and Sabonis is better than either of the prospects the Lakers drafted at the end of the 1st round.

I wouldn't rather have Oladipo.

And I disagree about Sabonis. Not that you may not ultimately be right, but we don't know yet because neither of them played a minute in the NBA yet.

It was summer league, so obviously has to be taken with a grain of salt, but Kuzma showed a lot of promise. Might be another draft day steal like Nance and Clarkson.

Well, the allegation is tampering thats what youre asking. Specifically that they spoke with, or made an arrangement with PG prior to the trade. The Lakers are denying it, of course.

i havent seen anything that said they would have given up both--- and i see no evidence to corroborate that what so ever- but it makes sense in that- if i am the Lakers- i dont think id want to pay RAndle what hes gonna demand next summer when i am going after a lot bigger fish anyway and Randle doesnt really do much.

It was reported out here, but never got much traction because the Pacers took the OKC deal literally the very next day.
