Steven A Smith today commented on the investigation and called it ridiculous since it has been well known already that Paul George was not happy in Indiana, wanted out and wants to join Los Angeles Lakers where he has ties to the community.

Actually in my opinion - I think Indiana is trying to sabotage Paul George from being allowed to join the Lakers as revenge for leaving them.

I mean to me- both sides did what makes sense for their teams

if the Lakers think George could come during free agency- you obviously dont give up ingram or ball

If you are the Pacers- and can get Sabonis- who was just taken in the lotto and looked good last year-- and Oladipo- a legit player on a long term contract--- i take that over Clarkson AND Randle and 2 late first rounders (even tough there is no evidence i have seen anywhere to suggest they even made that offer)....

Oladipo is basically a better version of Clarkson and he plays D---- Randle is gonna have to get paid next offseason- and Sabonis is better than either prospect hte Lakers drafted at 27 and 28...
From what I have seen, the Lakers really didn't have a forward to give up - They needed to send a guard for a guard and to still have a balanced team - so giving up Ingram or Randle for Paul George would have been a problem

I disagree on Randle - I think he is going to make the jump to being an awesome player this season, but I understand your position since you haven't been following him or the reports of his progress and development this summer. I think the first ten to twenty games will prove either way though if he is a keeper or a beast as they say he will be this season. As I said - Who cares if the Lakers didn't get Paul George and Kent Pope and Lonzo Ball could end up being better than expected. I say lets try what we have first

It is. Literally no one has shown or talked about anything else. The NBA has even said that the Lakers are cooperating fully and so far, there have been no findings. Pretty sure that if there was some "smoking gun" the Pacers would have already presented that evidence and it would already be out.

after listening to that interview Magic sounded more like he was led into his responses. not that Lakers haters care...

I really don't get why people think that the Pacers had demonstrably better trade offers. PG13 took their knees out when it comes to trade value by making it clear he plans to go to the Lakers next year.

I doubt that the Pacers were being offered considerably more than that. Getting a late 1st or even two isn't a better trade offer, IMO.

I think the Celtics SHOULD have offered more but they chose to hold onto their assets.

That's what you were hoping for? How about having a GM that takes the better trade offer? Yeah, lets have a GM that files a meaningless tampering charge.

This. PG has let it be known he wants to be in LA but Indy gets sour grapes and files some bogus charge.

I mean- Randle is 23 in November...has had at least 2 major surgeries, is due for a huge pay increase next offseason as he is a RFA and he is atrocious defensively.

He is a very good rebounder. He is also pretty slick around the basket and shows some nice natural scoring ability. Hes not a stretch 4 by any means since he cant hit a 3 to save his life--- and his range is so-so for the mid range shot. He is much to small to be an effective rim protector.

I like Randle a lot as a prospect since he has a lot of natural ability and plays a pretty instictive game. His problem was always going to be the fact that he is a tweener who is not quick enough to play small forward- kind of like Derrick Williams in that regard.

In order to stick and become a legitimate starter he needs to extend his range and he needs to be able to guard a lot better. Thus far those 2 things havent happened.

If he had 2-3 years left on his deal for a cheap amount- that would be one thing- as is- he is a RFA this offseason and the value of his rookie contract wont be nearly the value of what he will get paid.

The kid could DEFINITELY still take a big step forward if he extends his range and learns to defend--- but you are probably going to have to give him a fairly large extension to find out.

A lot of players have had major surgeries and bounced back - that is meaningless. Jason Kidd - had surgery and still won a title. Kobe had surgery and came back and won two more titles. Shaun Livingston had a catastrophic injury and came bac.

The word from the organization is that Randle has been doing some major body building this summer and working on his game and is ready to contribute in a big way. Nothing personal, but I believe Magic Johnson over your opinion. I just think he has more credibility then you. Like I said the first ten games will show us what he is about

CLEARLY they are...

Hurricane - is having problems here - The Indiana Pacers have no findings to talk about - hence the false charges in hopes they stick and blame some one else for their lack of management skills.

i mean- you can read in any newspaper in any city a guy who has had a "great summer" (or winter in baseball, or well- summer in football i guess) -- in any sport on practically any day of the week. This guy has worked relentlessly. This guy has put on 20 lbs. of muscle. This guy put up a 1000 shots a day, this guy hit a 1000 balls a day, this guy threw a 1000 balls a day...etc..

we will only truly know when the rubber meets the road.

I didn't read any newspapers though - I have been following the Lakers and Magic Johnson's exact statements in regards to Julius Randle, but not to worry - We will soon find out and one of us will get to tell the other - I TOLD YOU SO

P.S. - I was also following comments by Julius Randle - I don't think he qualifies as a two bit newspaper any more than Magic Johnson

Julius Randle & Magic Johnson credibility > than SportsHoopla Posters not following Julius Randle

That's a math formula - study it

Hey @HurricaneDij39

This is what Lakers Nation said about the Indiana trade

It was a shocking trade that left many around the league scratching their heads at the deal, with most believing that the Pacers received far too little for George
