Haha you said that to me last preseason about the defense.
And yet we won 12 games, Hmmm Can't win 12 games in this league without defensive help. But then again you know that.

The only thing the defense did well last year was force turnovers. That is the most difficult stat to repeat from one year to the next. They were terrible against the pass and against the run. The ball bounced their way though when they needed a turnover. They won 12 games because they had a dynamic offense and could get the big turnover. I think the dynamic offense will continue as lots of talent on that side of the ball. Defensively though they look like a team that again will rely on forcing turnovers and to expect that same result is fools gold.

I guess that 2nd longest sell out streak in the NFL that has been going on since 1970 means most Bronco fans came around when Tebow joined the team. Again you are highly underestimating how wildly popular the Broncos have been for decades. Way before Tebow was a Bronco people were going crazy to watch the Broncos. Do you not remember that they went to a lot of Super Bowls and won a ton of games way before Tebow ever showed up? I mean most of their greatest years were before Tebow came on the scene. Bronco fans have been loyal through the best of times and the worst of times. Now thankfully for the Bronco fan base they haven't had to endure many losing seasons lately. In fact since Bowlen took over the team they have had more games in the Super Bowl than they have had losing seasons. They have only had 6 losing seasons since 1976. So Bronco fans started selling out the season before they started winning consistently. They rewarded the fans with the winningest franchise in the NFL since Pat Bowlen took over. Only 2 other major sports teams from any major sport have had a higher winning percentage than the Broncos. Most of those years under Bowlen happened before Tebow.

And that is great that the Raiders had a good season last year. They have a lot to do to win back the fans. We saw last year that the stadium still had issues selling out. GAmes would have still been blacked out if the rules hadn't been changed that the NFL is not allowed to black out games. The Raiders lost the fans with such a bad streak of losing seasons and losing badly. That takes time to break through and it takes them consistently proving that they will put out a competitive team year in and year out. They have some talent on the team for sure but they also had some fluky wins that don't usually happen and they had a terrible defense. So they have to show some improvement because this year to me is going to be tougher than last year to repeat that same winning ability. Tougher schedule, tougher division, and some outside noise because of the move to Vegas. Throw in now having expectations thrown on them to actually win. Not every team that has a winning season can handle that kind of added pressure.
So the stadium sells out a Bronco fans? Well yeah it's the only real game in town. Cali has to much going on for everybody to just focus on football. You just can't compare the two. It's really pretty silly to try. You know better than that.

RAIDERS sold out last year and sold and sold out this year as well.. But for me dude? It's not about selling out or which fan base is better. I live in Idaho dude, so I don't care what goes on there. JUST WIN BABY!! That's my game.

And forcing TOs is the most important stat of them all. Why? The offense gets the ball back.
And you are really selling the defense short. Cuz plenty of times they made key stops to get the ball back..
You a stat guy, so you only see stats and not the game. C

They have been one of the biggest tv draws way before Tebow ever showed up. I was using the stadium selling out as an example. And no the Raiders did not sell out games last year. They only sold around 86% of their tickets last year. The way they made it look like they sold out was by covering over 10,000 seats with black tarp because they couldn't sell those tickets. It is well documented.

Throw in Broncos have been proven to be one of the best traveling fan bases in the NFL so it isn't just about their ability to sell out their own stadium but their ability to take over the stadium of an opposing team. The Broncos are a more popular team than the Raiders. That shouldn't be hard to agree with. They have been a much more consistent fan base in winning and have had plenty of star players to look towards of why they have grown so much as a fan base even before Tebow. They also have had much more success than the Raiders since the mid-80's. Raiders haven't won a Super Bowl since the 84' season. The Broncos since then have been to 7 Super Bowls with winning 3 of them. The only team in the NFL more dominant than them during that stretch is the New England Patriots. So it should be to the shock of no one that the Broncos are a wildly popular team in the NFL even with being in a small market city.

You know I watch every game. I'm telling you the stat that helps to paint the picture of the Raiders' defense last year. Turnovers at key moments were a big part of them winning games. They struggled to stop teams through the air and on the ground. that was easy to see. They couldn't get pressure on the QB other than by Mack on a consistent basis. The secondary had many players lost on where to be. The linebackers over the middle were one of the worst groups in the NFL. They just were not a good defense and other than younger players taking a giant leap forward and some rookies playing really well they are going to struggle again this year. I'm not saying they can't improve because they can. So far this preseason though I'm seeing the exact same struggles as last year popping up again. Doesn't mean they will show that in the regular season but it is something to keep an eye on.

I'm sorry but I never really seen the Broncos get any real hype till Tebow came along. Then it really blew up. Then enter Manning another TV ratings monster.

I'm not sure I'm buying what ya selling cd. Tebow then Manning says a lot.

Heck I probably watched more Raiders' football than you last year. Do you know how many times I painstakingly watch a play then rewind it maybe 5-10 times to analyze every single player on just one play? A lot. I break down tendencies by teams of what types of plays they like to run in certain situations. I break down what type of players give a certain individual player troubles. I break down the strengths and weaknesses of players and teams. Heck this past week alone I spent probably 10 hours working on just 2 pieces for the website I work for breaking down just 2 players and the snaps they took during the first preseason game. So please don't sit here and try to act like I don't watch the games. I do this for every opponent the Broncos play. That means I watch the Raiders games twice at the very least.

No team in this league can win with pure offense, it can't be done. No way man. Again, you look at the numbers and make the judgment call without watching the games.

The numbers speak for themselves. I don't have to try and sell you on it. The NFL already knows the Broncos sell. It is why even during their down years they still get the max prime time games. It is why even after missing the playoffs this past year the Broncos still get the max prime time games allowed. That alone should show you just how big the NFL thinks the Bronocs are. They stick them in their best time slots as much as they can because they know the ratings are gold.

Not really worth my time. I guess you can believe that I don't watch the games and only look at the stats. That is about as far from the case as can be. Seriously dude if you knew how much football especially beyond the Broncos I watch you would think I was crazy. Most of it comes from not sleeping and using those extra hours to watch football and keep my mind busy.

Well let's see depending on the week in the year I watch anywhere from 4-15 games a week. For the final opponent of the season I will watch all 15 games they played leading up to the Broncos game. So this year the Broncos play the Chiefs in the final season. I will watch all 15 games they have played leading up to the final week. I will also spend time breaking down down and distance in those games and play types.

Seriously I get paid to do some of this stuff and I take that very seriously.

Football is a passion of mine and something I have been working to build up to maybe something bigger. Right now our podcast is closing in on 10,000 people listening to us every week. I don't say that to completely brag but to say that it has taken a lot of painstaking hours wondering if this is worth it to get it built up to that and hopefully beyond. I know that if I am going to build that to even more I have to put in a lot of work to make it great. So that means I work to be the smartest/most informed person on a team or player.

I do the same thing with the RAIDERS and I don't get paid for it. Which I should though!
I watch the same game a few times, then got to different RAIDERS sites and they break the whole game down..
You do NOT watch more RAIDERS than me, period. If you do? Then you a closet RAIDER fan. And even then you still don't watch as much as me.

That wouldn't make me a closet Raider fan. It would mean that I work hard to understand my enemy. I can guarantee you the Broncos are doing the exact same thing. they watch a ton of their opponents. Yes they spent time self evaluating what they do to try and get better but they spend countless hours just watching film on the opposing team. Right now though I guess just have to agree to disagree on who watches more.
