Im the only guy i know that # 1 is this handsome, and #2 wasnt on the Judge jock wagon

I have a Ben Gamel wig
LOL. Ben Gamel wig. My hair looks about like Gamel's, but I'm not a stinking hippie. I grow it out for Locks For Love, and donate it when it gets 8" long. I'm just about there. This will be my fourth donation.

Big debate on Zig's board: Comparing Trout and Mantle through age 26. Trout turns 26 in a couple weeks. Mickey had his greatest seasons before age 30. And then his knees gave out on him. Still managed a few great seasons on shot knees, but nothing like he had in his 20s. Though age 26 Mantle's OPS+ was 174. Trout's is 173.

This debate was triggered by a Phillie sports radio jock who said that Trout is on pace to be the greatest player ever. I suppose that is a reasonable assessment of Trout, to date. The problem with the statement is that everyone has their own criteria for what constitutes "greatest ever." Some people like WAR, some like OPS+, some like accumulated baseball card stats. For me, it is the one guy I would want at the plate with the game on the line. And, I wouldn't choose Trout in that situation.
so frank robinson it is 26 career walk off hits:suds:

I see your point, July has been decidedly average for their lineup.

I would give them all of June, though.

June Ranks
Runs - 1st
BA - 7th
OBP - 3rd
SLG - 2nd
OPS - 2nd

Don't mind @DirtDirtDirt . This is typical Yankee fan behavior. Win 3 in a row and it's "Watch out - we're going to be dangerous when we get to the world series."

Lose 3 in a row "Woe is me. This team couldn't hit it's way out of a paper bag. Should have had a fire sale at the deadline."

Where as I, being an objective fan, realize the Sox offense still sucks even after the recent scoring run and Devers and Nunez won't keep it up.

I'm thinking Kluber has a reasonable shot to snatch the Cy Young from that scrawny fag in Boston.

In Kluber's seasons with CY consideration, he turned his amps up to eleven in the second half. Sale has a history of fading down the stretch - career ERA 1st half of 2.74, 2nd half of 3.27.

Further, since June 1, Kluber has been considerably better.

Since June 1
CS - 11 GS ~ 75.1 IP ~ 6.85 IP/GS ~ 106 K ~ 12.6 K/9 ~ 12 BB ~ 8.8 K/BB ~ 22 ER ~ 2.63 ERA
KC - 12 GS ~ 86.1 IP ~ 7.19 IP/GS ~ 131 K ~ 13.7 K/9 ~ 15 BB ~ 8.7 K/BB ~ 17 ER ~ 1.77 ERA

Ugggh, horrific ones

Routine grounder leading off the game to Headley, booted...As routine as it gets

1 out, man on second

Routine grounder to Tyler Wade at 2nd, booted.....As routine as it gets

1st and 3rd 1 out, instead of inning over

base hit RF, runner heads to Third, Clint Frazier throw heads to the Upper Deck

Switch to Cinemax - "Ghost"

ahhh.. Rookie calls up! How nice But yes that would drive me to swtich the channel as well. Is "Ghost" the one with Patrick Swayze and Woopie?

Yanks will pummell the Red Sox in the 10 remaining games, and fall short anyway because they will lose to the likes of Jordan Zimmerman and Anibal Sanchez

Dead to me that baseball

It is early to talk about Trout in the company of Ruth/Bonds/etc. IMO, but as long as he gets his 10 seasons, he's pretty much a HOF lock. His first 5 full seasons are about as good as they get (led all five times in WAR and his lowest OPS+ in a season was 168).

And considering most of the baseball watching country never gets to watch Mike Trout actually play baseball, it will effect the opinion of the general public of his career

It might affect his stardom somewhat, but I'd say there's a pretty strong consensus he's been the best player in the game over the last 5.5 years.
