9 game try out is what I am hearing if it's Nico.
Not that I'm antsy but I'd rather have Patrick because of that. He's more of a sure thing although if Hirsch becomes Dats he'll be sick. Either way you can't go wrong but I still like Patrick overall. Lineage is never bad either.

Nolan Patrick folks.

We're going to be very happy with this pick. I love the Brandon connections. Provorov on the ice there in that first video with Patrick and obviously Hexy too. I'm sure our scouts saw a lot of Patrick and we've clearly done our homework here. Medically there are no issues and we can move forward immediately.

I expect him to make the team straight out of camp with ease.

Wow!! Bombshell trade!

Schenn traded to St. Louis for #27 overall, Lehtara and conditional 1st round pick.

he only played in 8 games last year
1 goal
3 assists
+5

And he is older - 29 vs. Schenn 25
:noidea:

That's playoffs. He played in 64 regular season games. 22 points and listed as a center. Idk much about him obviously, but $4.7 million cap hit seems high.

We must've gone sour on Schenn at some point and are just selling high here. I don't know what the conditions are, but we may end up with two 1st round picks out of this and Lehtera is slightly cheaper, plus signed for one fewer season. So, it's also a bit of cap relief when we need to re-sign some of our top guys. I'm talking about Provorov, Simmonds and Konecny among others.

Hexy apparently still stocking the cupboard with picks. We must've really liked Morgan Frost at #27 too.

Very strange I agree as Schenn is ready to win sooner than later. Maybe not happy being on the wing? Getting two firsts is pretty good although no immediate help although lehtera may be just as good on the wing. Still baffling by all accounts...

Schenn traded to Blues; Flyers acquire Morgan Frost, Jori Lehtera, first round pick

The Flyers obviously don’t expect him to snap out of the funk he’s settled into at even strength in his career, and he is clearly only a threat on the power play these days. 17 of his 25 goals last year came on the power play, and sure ... it’s good to have power play goals. But Schenn was borderline useless at even strength, and it’s clear that Ron Hextall was ready to move on from him as a result.

I was thinking the same thing PP he was great but they can find another slot guy quite easily with all that talent probably Patrick. Had to be something like this...

I think we've just made room for guys like Raffl, Konecny, Weal or Patrick to battle for top six spots on this roster.

Trading Schenn away doesn't hurt us much in theory because he was terrible at even strength and Patrick will very likely make the team immediately. That and he could be an upgrade, easily.

Lehtera was clearly a bit of a salary dump, yet he is actually cheaper than Schenn and we get a whopping two 1st round picks to take him on. That seems like a lot for St. Louis to pay, for me.

Good move by Hexy. I trust it completely.

Our extra 1st rounder from the Blues next season too will probably be around 22nd or so overall in a stronger draft. I like the chances of us finding a good player at that spot.

Lehtera is a Fin like Filppula too. Maybe these guys could work together and/or have chemistry. Either way, in two seasons, they are both gone. So, the picks make it all worthwhile.

After sleeping on it the trade makes more sense. They probably won't miss a beat 5 on 5 with Lehtera as Schenn wasn't very good there....you also have Patrick most likely making the team. Between the two of them any loss will be filled and you need to make room for Patrick to give him a chance to grow. I'm fucking excited about this kid as this pick has a chance to grow with the young D coming in taking the team over the top. The will be good this year and even better moving forward...
As per the goalie situation I think that I'm OK with Stolarz and Neuvy. Stolarz looked great and Neuvy would be a good mentor to him. Unless management doesn't think that he's ready I'd bring in a guy like Elliot to hold the fort for a season until he is.
