They could have always not acquired him. He only looks useful in blowouts so far. Unfortunately, there aren't many blowouts like today's that the Giants play in.No options might have something to do with it...
They got him for less than free and he was an elite closer just last year. He has a MAJOR case of the yips. A change of scenery can really help with that.
That is true. Just skeptical about him turning it around. Now that we have him, I hope he does but this first appearance doesn't bode well for him (unless he pulls a Morris, and becomes okay). Just wished that they would bring up Matt Reynolds or Tyler Rogers. Seems strange that the FO would make a comment a couple weeks ago that they wouldn't, essentially, do the veteran dumpster dive route and instead would be calling up guys. Then they trade for Dyson. But hey, he could turn back to the 2016 version.
But the potential upside on Dyson is unlike what we have with anybody in the org. If he gets over the yips, it will be a real competition between him and Melancon for the starting gig.
I'll root for him to do well.
