Last year's achieving second place in the NFC North was as much due to Matthew being injured as anything else. Without a competent backup quarterback, the best Detroit could do is bandage up his finger and send him out. Glad to see he's tough, but I'd rater have seen him sit for a week or two and get healthy.

I know the Seahawks are being rumored heavily for Collin, but the Lions should be putting out signals to his agent that they need to talk. We could use better depth, and it also allows for some trade bait down the road at a position of need for over half the teams in the league. I know a number of people would be upset because of how he expressed his opinion, but I would think that cooler heads can prevail on this.

It's hard to come up with a franchise quarterback (and Matthew Stafford is one). Having a chance to get depth that can keep the team competitive for a couple of games should be an opportunity the Lions follow.

Kaep would make a more than capable backup. Probably the best backup in football.

The problem is, up until now (if he's finally realized he won't get a starting gig) he had been asking for a 10 mil per year deal. Couple that with the media circus he'll bring, he's not really worth it.

If he can accept his fate as a backup, at least for one year, and come down to requesting high-end backup money. He would be a valuable asset.

You also thought Cutler was capable. His ass is out of football.

Cutler proved he was capable. Not great, but very capable. Retirement doesn't change that.

Why would anyone mention Matt Flynn? The guy started 7 games in his career, and hasn't done so since 2013. Hasn't even been in the NFL since 2015, when he didn't appear in a game.

Having a 1 read, option QB as a backup seems counter productive. If Stafford has a minor injury the guys(Kaaya) we have will be fine and if its season ending i'd rather have the earlier draft pick.

Kaep couldnt carry Rudok's jock strap and would have trouble beating out Kaaya for our number 3 spot.

He's a veteran with a solid resume.

I think Kaep would be a great fit for the Lions. I mean, it was the Packers that fooled everyone into thinking Kaep was a good QB to begin with.

You guys should get Kaep and start him over Stafford against us. Two sure wins every year.

And Flynn too. 1 good game against the Lions and the guy made millions.
