No Kesler or Burrows engraved on the Cup and that's fine by me.

I see what you did there,

Ongoing Dan Boyle joke gets a fresh update for 2017! ;)

If only the Caps weren't such chokers, I could've gone #allin on the Sens!

Alright, alright, no need to rub it in, at least we (notices absence of Pirates' logo in most spoiled Pens' fans logo sets from a town with exactly 3 teams) stand by our losers. Kidding, but not kidding.

No, I'm mostly joking, but seriously some of you guys, come the fuck on. I'm sure a few of you have perfectly good reasons, but I'm also sure a few of you are fake ass fans. At least Jeff Sly jumped OFF a winning ship.

Way off base. Dacks lives in Ottawa. No reason to expect him to be a fan of other Pittsburgh teams.

Myself, I refuse to support anything regarding the MoneyBags League until a salary cap is instituted.

You really think Dacks or you were the targets of my comment? C'mon, Beem.

I can't believe how far the Pens have gone in these playoffs with that rag-tag defense corps. Jacques Martin has done a fine job on the Pens bench with his deployment of those guys.

Hockey Gods payback for Twinkle Toes Kessel

78f489f68e9316b94599068d5c51e5c1.jpg

Anderson stopped at least three he never saw. Like in OT when he was clearing the stick from the crease. I was really pulling for him to win. Good guy, horrible year personally. Feel so bad for him.

I think Sens fans have a little bit to be upset about. Kessel's dive/PPG and then play being stopped when he went down and the Sens were attacking. As a Blue Jackets fan who watched Werenski bleed for 25 seconds while the Pens possessed the puck and scored, I can't help but notice that TWICE these playoffs the Pens had guys go down when the opponents had the puck and play was whistled immediately. :/

But then I remember that Melnyk owns the Sens, and he will have crazy conspiracy theories and it will make me laugh. Plus, if you leave the game in a position where a Zebra fuckiup can decide it...

It's Ironic though, in nature Penguins dive to *avoid* Predators.

Congrats Pens fans. Team owned large swaths of that game and Sens had absolutely nothing (except Anderson) in OT.

Basically this. The refs tried really hard to get the Pens this game in regulation. The Pageau breakaway can be included here.

I'm at least glad that it wasn't decided that way. Still basic shitty reffing that always seems to go the Pens way (when they play Ottawa at least).

Yep. Not advisable.

Really enjoyed watching this Silver Seven run, though. How many people had them losing in the first round? Would have been cool to have seen Sens-Preds.

Yeah. The refs kind of fucked the Sens but they had a clean slate going into OT and couldn't get it done.

I'd have to watch it again but do you really think that Kessel "dived"? It looked to me like a case where the guy went down because he was just moving fast and wasn't expecting it. And it's not like interference is canceled if the guy doesn't go down anyway and Phaneuf did nothing illegal.

Kessel absolutely dove. But that's not the whole story. The Penguins make that interference play on

EVERY

SINGLE

SENS

DUMP-IN.

To call it at that stage can only be because Kessel flopped or it's just a massive inconsistency.

Yep. There are a few Senators I generally like, and Andersen is one of them. After a tough year, it would've been special fir him.

If only the Caps weren't such chokers, I could've gone #allin on the Sens!

Lol, there's no way Columbus fans will ever let that go. I honestly think that after Werenski's injury, and with possible concussion lawsuits incoming, the NHL probably told refs to call injury stoppages more often, in cases of pucks to the head. They should have just announced that, but it would have meant admitting a refereeing mistake, the ultimate NHL no-no....

Kessel might have gone down easily - he does his best to avoid contact all the time anyway, so maybe he just jumped - but what was Phaneuf thinking? After 2 power plays for the Sens and none for PGH, everyone knows what's coming, and he must have remembered the soft Hainsey interference call. Just a real unnecessary play by him. I'd be pissed if Dumoulin or whoever had done the same thing in a reversed context.

Not really a good reason but Phaneuf was probably taking note all series when the Pens ran interference on every Sens dump-in. Often making forecheckers run a 2 man gauntlet. The Hainsey and Phaneuf calls were both bizarre to say the least. I said so about the Hainsey call at the time too.

Given the time left in the game and refs generally putting their whistle away in the third period, I can only assume they made that call because Kessel dove. Disgraceful, but at least the Sens dug out of that hole and it was decided by the teams in OT, not by the refs.

I've also gotta hand it to this website/message board.

If you visit other forums the Pens fans are some of the biggest ass hats around. Yet our resident Yinzers are almost exclusively a great bunch.

Truly a testament to Sports SportsHoopla in getting this wheat from that chaff. :suds:

Yeah, he basically went full superman on that one. Big dive. If not for the optics (game 7 potential gwg scored on resulting powerplay) I'm confident he'd get a fine from the dopes for it.

Also, the Sens went un-penalized for too-many-men in OT of game 7. That alone probably makes up for whatever slights Sens fans may think their team has felt from the zebras throughout the series, no?

I took it as a make-up call :noidea:

I guess. Pretty tough to swallow a make-up call with under 10 minutes left in the thrid period of a tied game 7 ECF.

They say there is a time and a place for everything. :trash:

It was lucky but it didn't really affect the run of the play. Kind of like a high stick to Pageau's face in OT wasn't called. It's usually automatic but...

I hope you forever remain a non-baseball fan.
No loss on my part. Fuck the primadonnas and their owners. They should just contract the league to the dozen or so major markets and let them all go circle-jerk.
