I have been watching baseball many years and tonight I saw something that I've never seen before.......... a 1st baseman drop two pop ups in foul ground. Unfreaking believable. That kind of crap and the DDJ crap last night is making us a laughing stock.

This was poor management by Jeff and then fucking stupid defensive alignments fucked them

Weird how that one went right through the hole. We definitely have a leaky pen. Probably better to start Dyson this inning but what do you do bring in Claudio? Seeing eye ground balls and then it got into his head. Tough loss

Happy to see Leury Garcia having some success this year. It is interesting that both he and Odubel Herrera leave here and their new teams try them in CF. Profar goes to the WBC and they put him in CF. For some reason the Rangers are reluctant to do that with their own middle infielders. Not with Soriano, not with Kinsler, and not very much at all with Profar. Certainly not with Odor. Had Profar not been tried there in the WBC the Rangers would probably not have even considered it even to the extent they did.

Profar needed a better arm and the obvious is true. His real value is as a middle infielder

OF: Gallo, Gomez, Maz, Choo Bench: DDJ, Rua
IF: Napoli, Odor, Andrus, Beltre Bench: Kozma (Rua, Gallo)
C: Lucroy/Chirinos

Bye to Hoying, DDJ in CF on occasion for Gomez, Profar stays in AAA for now.... but Gomez is still about a month away, a lot can happen in that time

A lot of things can happen until Gomez gets back but I sure like the idea of a legit CF as backup. The only fit for that is Hoying. Lino is a spot start late inning base runner although. He needs work reading pitchers IMO. Just not that impressed with him. I like a guy like Hoying as an option for late inning replacement. Good runner too.

Rangers need to be better defensively

If you mean trade value it isn't going to make any difference where they play him at Round Rock. If you mean value to the team as a player then he isn't valuable as a middle infielder if you don't have an opening there.

You can't make decisions about him based on trade value any longer. They have managed to make his trade value next to nothing. Just about all of the middle infielders I mentioned became more valuable after they left here. They got next to nothing for Soriano. They got a bloated contract who's bat speed had already declined for Kinsler. They got next to nothing for Leury. And they got nothing for Odubel. Next they will get next to nothing for Profar and he will probably have more success after leaving here than any of those other guys.

I had a feeling the Rangers wouldn't help Sale set the strikeout record.

Winnable game lost by putting a completely untrustworthy pitcher into a delicate situation.

In case anyone was wondering Dyson doesn't have any optons left so he can't be sent down to Round Rock.

Rangers Reaction from Wednesday’s 9-4 collapse

A day after Jon Daniels said that that he hoped he could avoid adding any relievers before the trade deadline, buoyed by the Sunday performance of Sam Dyson, he might have to start considering all options.

Internally, there just aren’t many.

Seriously. Which reliever in the minor leagues could come up now and be an effective reliever? I’ll stop tying and give everyone a chance to answer the question.

(Cue the theme to Jeopardy.)

OK. One member of the media is voting for Preston Claiborne, a Dallas native currently at Triple A Round Rock who has big-league experience. Another suggested R.J. Alvarez, who fits the same mold as Claiborne.

Maybe Anthony Bass or Allen Webster? How about Connor Sadzeck at Double A Frisco? He’s a starter who the Rangers shouldn’t mess with, but these appear to be desperate times.

Dyson took a massive step back Wednesday as he failed to retired any of the seven batters he faced in the seventh inning. The Rangers led 3-1 when he entered with runners at the corners and one out.

Jeremy Jeffress has been really bad. How much can the Rangers trust Keone Kela? Tony Barnette, while getting outs for the most part, hasn’t been as sharp as last season. Dario Alvarez is a borderline big-leaguer. Alex Claudio can’t pitch every night, and Jose Leclerc is probably a week or 10 days away from coming off the disabled list.

(Who could have possibly thought on April 1 that the Rangers only seven weeks later would be pining for Jose Leclerc?)

This is the wrong time for drastic moves. One or two new bullpen pieces are not going to take this team from where they are to where they want to be.

It certainly won't take them to the level I want them to be at, but for those who just want to be in the hunt for a wildcard position it might. To me, we should just go with what we have either here or in the minors and take the results.

Yeah and if they DFA him, he will be picked up by the Angels or Oakland and start pitching like old Sam. So a difficult situation. Considering he was nails against the Tigers for almost two full innings, the Boston massacre inning may be chalked up to BABIP. He is a ground ball pitcher and did get what three ground balls which didn't find a glove. One of them due to poor infield positioning leaving the entire right side of the field open.
