I can hear the late great Mets announcer Ralph Kiner lamenting on WOR TV channel 9 back in the day...

"Oh boy, those 2 out walks"

But thank goodness this time it didn't hurt the Mets.

4-3...Mid 8th.

Damn..Just when it appeared Conforto was finally bouncing back from a season long slump in the last 2 weeks...

Oh well.....hopefully he'll re-emerge on the road trip.

Onto the 9th.
4-3 Mets.

Diaz on the mound.

Trainer's Room....

Mets RHP Jacob deGrom (forearm tightness) continues to play catch, Luis Rojas said.
RHP Noah Syndergaard (Tommy John surgery) remains in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, pausing his rehab assignment with Class A Brooklyn on Sunday.
Syndergaard is throwing baseballs against a mattress in his apartment to keep his arm in shape.
C James McCann (lower back spasms) is swinging, throwing to bases and performing various catching drills. He could return this weekend in Washington. RHP Jake Reed (forearm inflammation) and OF/1B Jose Martinez (torn meniscus in left knee) began rehab assignments with Triple-A Syracuse.

Up Next....

The Mets head to Washington for a five-game series that includes a doubleheader on Saturday.
LHP Rich Hill (6-6, 4.11 ERA) will start on Friday night for NY, and he'll face Nationals lefty Sean Nolin (0-2, 5.67)

Mets lead it 2-0 on a Conforto rbi single in the 2nd, and Pete's rbi triple in the 3rd.
Hill looking good so far thru 5....and hopefully he can go another 2.. :hope:..or at least 1 more.
He's now at 67 pitches.....Nats' starter was at 102 pitches.
Also....Villar continues making outs on the base paths like it's going out of style.

Heading to the 6th.

Castro giving up runs here in the 6th...
Suddenly it's getting a little too interesting.

Now 9-5.

New Met Brad Hand is coming in w/ 2 on & only 1 out.

edit:
His 1st pitch to Soto is a 2 run single....to make it 9-7.
Soto took 2nd on a Maz passed ball.

Another single....Soto at 3rd now.

It's turned sloppy..and in danger of becoming a meltdown.

Thank goodness Hand got Zimmerman to GIDP.

9-7 Mets... heading to the 7th.

Mets failure to plate Maz in the 8th...will come back to haunt this team after this loss.

9-9...Mid 8th.
May on the mound.

Also ...why did Rojas replace Nimmo with Almora....instead of Pillar??
Only been 2 days but Dom Smith's absence is already being felt.
