Interesting stuff, 43. But you need to take Nash off your roster and add Semin and Johansson on there since I already traded them to the Jackets. ;)

I don't see Doan getting anything north of $5.5 million per though.

1) Semin and Johansen and maybe Ovechkin and Holtby might do it.

2) So if the Jackets give him 6.5 he'll definitely come? Perfect. Yes. I am willing to grossly overpay for him.

I still feel like I must be missing something. I have assembled a decent team without blowing up much (even adding a heart and soul guy with lots of talent) and have 9 mil left over. :confused2:

Even if I wasn't able to unload Mason and get a young goalie and had to sign, say, Hedberg at 3m per, I'd be waaay ahead. Even overpaying for him too.

Granted, in three years when Atkinson, Yakupov, Golubef, Mayorov and Johansen are well known I am in deep doo doo. But right now...

Perhaps I need to email this link to Howson...

Puh...lease. Semin has scored 30 more points than Nash in the last 3 years. Him, MoJo, and a #1 is MORE than enough, especially for a guy that doesn't want to play for you. I'm only giving you a little extra since we ripped off the Jackets with the Chimera-Clark trade.

Wow, I AM the GM.

When the team was challenged to "Prove you want to be here" he lead the team in scoring from that point. He wants to be here.

So, I messed with the Sens Roster, too:
CapGeek.com :: It's a numbers game :: Cap Calculator Roster

Picked up - Langkow, Suter, Chris Kelly and Langenbrunner
Re-signed - Karlsson (Duh), FO-LEEN-O (Duh), Konopka and Kuba.
Traded - Gonchar for Ericsson. Both have NTCs but they would waive them. Gonchar for the chance to play out the string in the NHLs retirement community and Ericsson will miss his Swedish Captain and want to play for another.

Even if they just hold their ground and add Del Zotto, I think you have a pretty good squad there, 4706. I like it. The biggest ? mark for you guys is Bryz and there just isn't anything you can do about that one right now.

one month ago!!! ;)

hmmm.... not entirely thrilled with the bottom 6 yet
- trade Luongo to leafs for Gardiner and #5 pick. We had to take Komisarek back, but he's buried in minors.
- scooped Weber of course (long term $6.5m, hometown discount to be in line w/ the Sedins),
- and scooped Jessie Schultz, which was helped out by the Gardiner trade. $975k salary is his max, assume another $5-600k in attained bonuses.
- dumped Ballard for picks, to make room for the new meat.
- put Amex line back together - and they had better be MUCH improved this year.
- not sure about malhotra / raymond, but we can start with them.

Nashville blows their budget on Suter, and Weber gets pissed and demands his rights be traded to Vancouver and only Vancouver.
3rd round pick goes the other way :D

yeah, I'm not entirely comfortable with Malhotra / Raymond. but couldn't really think of a legitimate trade for them (the Weber scenario is a lock!). Manny has a limited NTC, and contributes in ways that doesn't show up on the stats sheet; and they would need to fluff Raymond's numbers before trading him out.

1. Re-signed Karlsson long term for $6.5M
2. Signed Suter for the same price tag; he'll take that to play with Karlsson damnit!!
3. Signed Parise for $7M.
4. Signed Jason Garrison for 3.65M
5. Re-signed RFA Nick Foligno for $2.55M
6. Re-signed UFA Matt Carkner for $0.9M
7. Promoted Swedish rookies Mika Zibanejad and Jakob Silfverberg.
8. Signed Ryan carter to a $1M deal.

Lineup:

FORWARDS
Parise - Spezza - Michalek - Speed skill and tenacity. An elite 1st line.

Silfverberg - Turris - Alfredsson - Gambling on the old guy with two super-talented young guys to provide a solid second line.

Foligno - Regin - Zibanejad - Speed, great defensive awareness and definitely capable of chipping in. A really nice 2-way line.

Greening - Smith - Neil - Tough, hard on the forecheck and just a dash of skill. IN short a pain in the ass to play against for as much as 15 minutes a night.

DEFENSE
Suter - Karlsson - Offense, skating, smarts; puck possession pairing at its finest.

Cowen - Garrison - Cowen comes into his own as a Brent Seabrook type defenseman while playing with Garrison who does everything well.

Phillips - Gonchar - The specialist pairing. Gonchar can still work the PP and Phillips is still outstanding on the PK. At maybe 13-14 ES minutes a night these guys could still thrive.

Anderson gets pushed by Bishop in the nets and both are pushed by the development of Lehner in the minors.

Matt Carkner and Ryan Carter provide some grit and experience as 13th F and 7th D.

Honestly, after prying away Doughty and Chara from their respective teams while giving up almost nothing in return, those low-ball contracts were child's play.
