Surprised Robinson Cano was not listed.
He will pay dividends for the Mariners over the next 5 years, but after that his contract will be a hindrance on the franchise. In 2023, Cano will be 40 and the Mariners will be paying him $24,000,000 that year. Yikes.
Me too. It's not like Safeco Field is a hitter friendly venue either so Cano will actually have to hustle his ass out of the batters box instead of standing and pimping his hits because of that short right porch at Yankee Stadium.
And the idea that was greatly helped by Yankee Stadium is a bit of an exaggeration....since 2009 (1st year of the new stadium), he averages just 3 more HR per season in Yankee Stadium than on the road. He also averages 5 more doubles on the road per season.
I like how it says nothing next to Ryan Howard.
I'd much rather have the Gonzalez contract than Fielder contract, even with A-Gon's decline offensively.
I think the reason AGon is declining offensively (for his standards) is because Dodger Stadium isn't exactly friendly to hitters. He had some good seasons in SD then he went to Boston and his offense exploded (thanks to hitter friendly Fenway Park and overall hitter friendly parks in the whole AL East).

Don't think they added any of the contracts that were given out this offseason. Just the ones where taems are stuck with huge contracts for not the production.
A-Rod's contract was such a fail and is the main reason why the Yankees won't give out 10 year contracts to 30+ year old players anymore.
Teixeria's contract was a fail as well. Only his first year was he the hitter we thought we were getting. Hopefully he can stay healthy this yaer though, hes still better than what we had.
Safeco's dimensions actually arent terrible for left handed hitters. Its the right handers that have always struggled. For Example when Beltre signed in Seattle after his 46 homer season in LA. I dont think he ever reached 25 homers in his 4 Seattle years but then regained form once he went to Boston and then Texas. However I agree him making 24 mil at age 41 will be tough.

Beltre had 25 home runs in 2006 and 2008. 26 in 2007. He only had one 25+ HR season in LA. And Beltre hit 48 home runs in 2004, not 46.
Beltre is your typical does well in a contract year and then doesn't live up to it. Though I guess he has worked out in Texas but its hard to not hit in Texas
