The trend with recent superhero movies has been directors focused on trying to be dark, gritty, edgy. I'm hearing that Wonder Woman succeeds because director Patty Jenkins decided to stay away from that trend, and instead she went old school hero style with a focus on humanity and morality and heroism.

Patty Jenkins directed Charlize Theron in her Oscar winning performance in Monster, and supposedly Jenkins did a great job with Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman.

I'm looking forward to seeing this film.

I would think a dark, gritty, edgy Wonder Woman movie wouldn't be good. Why would anyone want to for that character and for her first major movie appearance. Batman, Wolverine..etc are characters you can easily do dark, gritty, edgy.

Wonder Woman does look good. I hope it does great at the box office.

I was kinda expecting this to bomb but the reviews seem pleasantly surprising. I'm glad they didn't make Wonder Woman super dark like everything else DC lately.

I'm still not looking forward to seeing this because I feel like I saw it all in the trailers but at least its going to likely be decent.

Meh, 6/10.

Now I will say that I don't like war movies and this movie is about 70% fighting war scenes or people sitting around talking about the war and so perhaps if you're a fan of war movies you might like it better than I did.

It was just completely the opposite of what I expect from a superhero movie. I'm not saying I don't like action but old style World War I types of movies just don't interest me.

I work as a Bartender at a movie theater so we always show the movie the day before it premieres to the public just for employees.

Perhaps....

....but what does it say about someone who not only clicks-on, but also posts in threads regarding comic books and superheroes?

This great. :thumb:

Wonder Woman Thursday Previews Bring in $11 Million

The $11 million tops such original films like Doctor Strange ($9.4 million), Ant-Man ($6.4 million), and Thor ($3.2 million), and sits just behind Guardians of the Galaxy‘s $11.2 million. For 2017, it only trails Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($17 million) and Beauty and the Beast ($16.3 million).

The film is expected to earn more than $90 million for its opening weekend.

Been getting great reviews so far.

To me, it looks too similar to Cap. America 1, which I was not a HUGE fan of. But if fans like it as much as critics has apparently liked it, maybe this is a must-see.

Just saw it, and it was awesome. From the moment the movie was first announced, I was not thrilled with the WWI setting -- I would have preferred a modern setting -- but the movie made it work well. Phenomenal execution. :thumb:

I'll just say that I am legitimately at a loss for the critic love of this movie. There's hardly even a plot. The introduce a bunch of secondary characters who do nothing. Without going into specifics, it ends because she just decides to use a power that she had all along. And the supposed message of the movie comes with an epiphany. About 90% of the jokes don't land. Just all in all, it was a pretty terrible movie.

Just as I thought.

I'd go see the movie if it had starred a woman with bigger tits. Gardot has very small boobs.
