FWIW...they are still listing Connor as game time decision, but with Samuels reportedly ready to go I don't think we'll see Connor in this game. Doubtful is probably accurate.

On the flip...Hilton is likely out for the Colts.

Hate to see guys miss games due to injury, but that one definitely helps the Steelers more than losing Connor hurts imo.

Steelers need this one badly...need to keep Mack under control and get Brissett on his back a few times...they should get to .500.

If we can get a win over a winning team, I think this can be the start of a turnaround. Looking at the remaining schedule, LA will be tough next week but then we have the @Browns, @Cincy, Cleveland at home and @Arizona. We need to win at least 3 of these games to stay in the hunt. If we could go into the final home game as an 8-5 wild card team, we may have a chance at one of the WC spots. Baltimore has a pretty tough upcoming schedule as well with NE, Houston, the Rams, 49ers and Bills in the next 6 weeks. If the offense clicks and the defense keeps playing the way they are, maybe we challenge for the division title? Momentum has to be on our side though.

This game is going to be tough. Hopefully the weather could help the Steelers out. Going to be a little colder Sunday than it has been in recent weeks. The Colts get to play outdoors which is different and hopefully it will be cold and windy. T.Y. Hilton not playing will certainly help. If it comes down to a kick, I like the Steelers in this game.

I think this is the make or break game of the yr...win it they have real positive mo...a more confident team facing the Rams.

Offense... Maintaining possession is going to be key. They cannot afford to sputter the offense & punt the ball often. Indy's offense is too good at controlling the clock. So PIT's offense is going to need to generate points. Not expecting Conner to suit up today after missing practice all week, but Samuels should be ready to go. And I have more faith than I probably should have in Trey Edmunds. Not sure how much we'll see Brooks-James (going to call him TBJ for short). Been hearing about his speed, but he's a UDFA for a reason and hasn't been with the team very long. He's an undersized return specialist, which makes him dangerous if provided space in the run game. Doubt we'll ever see it, but if he can provide a spark then we'd obviously welcome it. Also (as is the case every week), really hoping to see the QB play continue to progress. Mason played better as the game went along last week, so hopefully we don't see another slow/rough start. They absolutely cannot afford to start slow today.

Defense... Indy O-line is the best in the business for good reason. Not having Tuitt out there is going to hurt, but hopefully a good rotation of Alualu, Hargrave & McCullers will remedy that situation. Maybe even Buggs &/or Walton (if active) will get in on the action. If the front 7 can get a good enough push to keep their O-lineman from getting to the 2nd level, then V-Will & Bush should have a lot of freedom in run-blitz to keep Mack bottled up. If not then this could be a long day. I'm not expecting them to win the majority of the battles throughout the game because their O-line is too good, but if they can push Indy's offense into passing situations where the PIT secondary can be opportunistic & create turnovers, then it may be just enough to win this game. I fully expect the Colts to win the TOP battle. No TY Hilton is a good thing for this defense.

This game is very difficult to predict. Lots of questionable factors at play. Colder weather & run-first oriented offenses will mean a tough day in the trenches for both sides of the ball. But in a game where the end score is most likely a 3-4pt margin I tend to believe the team that controls the TOP with sound coaching most likely wins the game. Hard sell for the Steelers to win the TOP or have sound coaching lol.

Interesting matchup to watch today... Pierre Desir was announced as inactive for the 2nd straight game today. This means the Steelers will see a lot of rookie CB Rock Ya-Sin in coverage. Many will remember that name as one of Tomlin's favorite DBs in the draft this past offseason. He was heavily vetted/recruited by the Steelers in the offseason. Also worth mentioning, he struggled last week vs. Denver & Joe Flacco. Mason should be able to exploit that matchup.

If Rudolph doesn't look concussed early on they have a chance. Fitzpatrick will have another game changing game on D to help them win.

17-14

Well this is no longer a prediction but to be expected every week. :suds:

Play calling is awful. Just awful. But so is mason. Anytime the play calls for downfield u can see him get rattled going through progressions. It’s no wonder we dump it 3 yards a play.

Yep that offense was brutal and without a big play on D they had no hope.

This defense is saving this team's season and that's with our secondary still being shit, just less shit than it used to be. Our offense needs to wake it up. With that said, so happy with this win. Huge game this week, but an even bigger game next week. LETS GO!!!

There's just no way they can sustain a competent team with this current formula. Settling for FGs >75% of RZ trips and praying for defensive turnovers. The offense must figure out how to move the ball with consistency. Fichtner & Mason both share an equal amount of the blame for those problems. Fichtner tries too hard to cover up for Mason when he gets shellshocked. The 1st series INT was on JuJu, not Mason. But immediately after that they go full conservative mode with dump passes and runs. But Mason missed some open routes today that could have provided a spark. He's way too quick to dump the ball, and not smart enough to NOT hold onto the ball for too long while standing in his own endzone. Accuracy issues, field awareness issues, zero confidence. From the overall body of work that we've seen from Mason, I think I can confidently say that Mason ain't in folks. I'm ready for Devlin Hodges.

Mason Rudolph looks like a more athletic Landry Jones, but in a "deer in headlights" sort of way.

Thank God the defense created points because they should have lost today. A wins a win, but you absolutely cannot hang any sort of confidence on it. This team looked putrid today.
