VERY RECENTLY Clemson and ND just played a down to the wire two point game....yet there are 9 spots difference in this poll. And VERY RECENTLY Alabama killed Georgia and there is only 6 spots difference. Totally frickin' illogical. smh

Clemson is undefeated, and they totally controled the first 3 quarters of that game although give ND credit for almost making a amazing comeback in the 4th. I have Clemson ranked #5, and Notre Dme ranked #17 in my poll. So 12 spots difference in my poll.

And the majority of the time they are correct to do so.

Hell disagree with it and all that, but blaming it because it's "based on perception" is just facepalm worthy.
If they are correct to do so, why even play then? Just decide it on historical data and be done with it.

Gotta beat the champ to take his belt.

Undefeated Defending National Champions just beat an undefeated conference opponent. I don't care if you like them or not, it takes a lot more than running up the score on a 1-3 team to take over #1.

That's so BCS thinking.
Get with the times.
CFP Committee.
Massive movements from week to week is where we are now.

I haven't figured it out yet.

What they should do is like watch the games and then every week update with the new information and if a team proves themselves over the course of the year watch them gradually climb up in the rankings.

Surely that would be better than what we have now right?

Michigan will take some time. You have 1 loss on the year and while some people complain - you do need to have some recent history to build up confidence early in the season. If Florida had 1 loss after the past few seasons, they wouldn't be near as high, maybe not even ranked at all.

Your right ... the logical me would have them where there are, but the fan me would have them #1. Of course they would have finished last year at #1 (even at 5-7). Florida deserves the jump!!!

The committee proved that wrong last year. When they had a undefeated defending National Champion FSU at #4 in the 2nd to last poll of the season behind three 1 loss teams. How you play matters. How other teams play matters.

I have it 1 Utah 2 Baylor and 3 Ohio St.

Totally agree if it is once they get enough information to begin.

Not all the way to 12 IMO, but again this poll is meaningless and the season will work it out. They'll either keep winning or they won't.

It's why I honestly couldn't care less where Oklahoma is right now. Even if we keep winning, we'll likely be a fring top 10 team till our final 3 game stretch agains TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. That's pretty much our season right there, and we'll probably have to go undefeated because I don't think we can survive a loss that late in the season.

Interesting, they have Bama ahead of Ole Miss. I understand that Ole Miss had a bad game on the road, but come on!!

I could go either way. Bama got beat at their own house, but they did spot Ole Miss like 20 points and were still in it down to the wire. They had a bad game. But they made a damn nice statement on the road against Georgia. Ole miss on the other hand just got their asses handed to them.

Have to agree. Last year seems to tell us it is just as important when you lose as who you lose to. Don't you think teams like Georgia, UCLA or Notre Dame could work their way back into it if they run the table?

Just realized Notre Dame doesn't have a CCG so that might handicap them.

Don't understand how anyone can keep Ohio state #1. Top 5, sure. Not #1 though.
Just from the little football I've watched this year, there is no dominant team that seems heads and shoulders above them all. Should be a fun playoff.

IMO, there isn't a shave and a haircut difference in 1-8. They have to choose a top 25 and until Ohio State loses they will be #1. Nature of the beast

That is a brutal 3 game stretch, but this team will have to improve as the season goes much like Ohio state did if they're going to be legit contenders. They're still ironing out a lot of wrinkles, so I guess it works to our advantage to have those three at the end of the season because they'll hopefully be playing their best ball then.

Yeah I agree, it's a hard one, but IMO, I go on "head to head" games and Ole Miss beat Bama in Bama's back yard. As far as Georgia goes, IMO I think they are overrated this year.
