Yes, hopefully he doesn't make any premature and/or rash decisions...

If he does he and the team may find themselves in a sticky situation.

Well that blows...

Does it blow or does it suck?!? Looking for some clarification...

well ... spit it out, sbb122

;)

I don't know, that's a hard one to get my head around...

I could see Wiz not signing and thus giving the shaft to the BJ's...

That would be a real dick move...

I just hope he doesn't pull out of the negotiations with them too early.

He's gonna command $5-6.5 million. I can't see CBJ giving him that.

They just roped someone into taking Filatov's 2.5 Mil hit, and Upshall, Rivet and Moreau come off the rolls sooooo...

They have some room.

This would make me happy. Not as happy as Bieksa would've, but would make me happy.

i don't understand why teams continue to trade for players rights right before free agency. unless a player specifically asked to be traded to a certain team, why would a player have any incentive to sign a deal before july 1st when he might have several teams offer him a contract?

GM: OK, we understand you want a payday. We want you here, and you will be part of building a contender / winner / the beaches are nice. So... what's it going to take?

FA: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

GM: OK, done.

I can see it making sense for some players, but Ehrhoff has been pretty clear from the get go that he wanted to see what July 1 brings.

Think eBay. Buy It Now vs letting the auction take it's course.

If a player has a dollar figure in mind and a team trades an asset and gets close to that # = Buy it Now. The player gets the stress over with and the team can focus on other stuff.

Once that phone rings and teams that have to hit the cap floor (or the Rangers or Wings) start throwing wheelbarrows full of money = Auction. The player runs the risk of seeing dollar signs and then realize he signed with Floriduh.

What I heard is Wiz and his agent came by, had a three hour meeting with Howson and staff then touring the arena, the facilities, etc. Then Wiz and his agent hung out with Jeff Rimer and Tyler Wright watching dev camp (and Johansen is apparently all he's hyped to be). He left with an offer, but no deal yet.

There is also a rumor that Umberger and Nash have been ushering one Jeff Carter around town today. No idea if there's any truth to that.

Columbus is a cool town. I absolutely love the arena area set up. In fact I hope they somehow move into our division next year...because 3 trips there would be awesome.

Obviously he didn't want to see July 1 that bad.

6 years $33 million. Sheesh, not worth that much at all. 5.5 million? This market is insane.
