Did the M's just lose their 1st round pick.
A pick that would have been protected had they finished with a bottom 10 league record?

I'm not 100% positive, but c'mon.

That win and WS loss, I think, means M's finish with 11th worst record, thus, NO protected pick, and they lose their 1st round pick.

Would be nice to have Dipoto start with a top 10 pick, but HELL no.

M's and Sox ended with the same record. Anyone know the tie-breaker? Sox won the season series 4-3.

as NW brought up in another thread, the white sox had a worse record than the m's in 2014, and that's the tiebreaker

Only the Mariners could fail to Mariner when we really need them to Mariner.

Well lets not just blame it on this one win in October; those wins (however few it was) in April and May were just as damaging

You don't like Dipoto? Who was your choice? Can't really criticize a GM hiring unless you had a better candidate in mind. I mean, someone has to be GM, so...who did you want?

None of the people they were interviewing. I would rather see you gm than dipoto.

With Lincoln Log still at the helm... i have little to no faith anything is going to improve.

Mcclendon should be in a concession stand, not the dugout. Boggles my mind how these clueless idiots get jobs.

With the Mariners ownership and Lincoln in place I wouldn't take the job. Wouldn't even take the interview. Seems like this franchise is destined to fail. Baseball gods will NOT allow a team who's owner has never seen them play one time in person have success.

Yes but the hire if for nothing else is solid cause he has an ax to grind from his former employer along with his already proven track record of telling ownership to shove it. The Mariners haven't really had a GM with something to prove or shown the ability to stand up against the check writers.

All about if they open the coffers to Dipoto and give him autonomy with all things baseball related.

As I said in another thread, I can't imagine him taking the job unless that was the agreement, and I hope he walks if they lied. Nobody in MLB would hold it against him, just like they didn't hold it against him when he walked on being a co-GM to Scioscia and getting fucked over by with draft picks when Moreno pushed for the likes of Pujols and Hamilton.

That Hamilton sign was fucking awful. Correct me if I am wrong here but the Angels are paying $50+ million over the next two years for him to play for the Rangers LOL and the Rangers are paying $2 million per year. At least Pujols has had productive seasons. Still though those guys are paying out the ass for 2 players and one of them is their opponent.

Wasn't Hamilton one of those guys Jack lied about going after? I thought him and Fielder both said the Mariners never offered anything.
