Now much of these are mere rumors, but holy crap there are six potentials. Toronto and Detroit is set. Rumors of LA/ANA in Dodger Stadium; NYR v. NYI AND NJD (TWO games for the Rags) in Yankee Stadium; CHI v. PIT in Soldier Field (already hosted, and already been in it TWICE); CHI v. MIN in Target Field (enclosed...you can remove the roof, but not quite the same feel).

Yeah Target Field definitely doesn't have a roof. Your thinking of the Metrodome and that's not retractable, just implodable.

Probably less stupid than the new unbalanced re-alignment coming for next year.

I would very much prefer if they made this a truly special occasion. And use it as a catalyst to showcase every level of hockey. Do it in areas with HUGE yoth hockey programs, some solid college or Junior teams, minor league and NHL

Make it a day long celebration of the game and not just another place for the pros to wear new marketing materials.

A state High School championship game
College most local to the two NHL teams vs each other, (men and women)
Teams Junior affiliates (Little Caps, Junior Pens, Columbus AAA Blue Jackets, etc)
Team's AHL affiliates
NHL Alumni teams (in an olympic year - Olympic team alumni)
NHL teams

Out of that schedule, the NHL game might be the least interesting to watch.

I know the Heritage classic is supposed to feature 2 canadian teams but i really would have liked to see a rival come to town ... maybe an American rival so NBC would show the game too? ... maybe Chicago? and the argument of "well theyve been in an outdoor game" doesnt carry weight since chicago are supposedlyon the sched to supposedly play Minni

no offense to Ottawa ... they should host one too ... but wouldnt it have been awesome for Ottawa to hold a heritage classic 2 years from now v Toronto or Montreal in the new stadium they are building for the new CFL team???

really reeks of Ottawa/Vancouver being selected because the owners of these 2 teams were completely asschapped at Bettman for the lockout

as for it actually being an indoor game .... meh ... its all about the money of course lol


/someone on the radio yesterday said the game should be more about "showing off BC" ... therefore ... go find a huge area in the valley/interior/howe sound that has been clearcut and build a temporary rink lol

I have not enjoyed a single outdoor game. The hockey is always awful.

I can see it being an event if your there, but for the tv viewer, not so much.
