With the first-overall pick in this month's NHL Entry Draft, the Edmonton Oilers are receiving plenty of interest from teams around the league.

Oilers GM Steve Tambellini told TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger that teams continue to inquire about the price of the No.1 selection.

While it's unlikely the Oilers will part with the top pick, Tambellini remains willing to entertain offers.

Meanwhile, the Oilers have until the end of the month to decide whether or not they want to buy out the contracts of captain Ethan Moreau, and forwards Patrick O'Sullivan and Robert Nilsson.

Tambellini would prefer to trade Moreau for a mid-round draft pick.

that would be a HUGE mistake.. picks like seguin, hall, crosby, ovechkin, and kane save hockey in towns that need saving.. how visible were pens and caps fans before crosby and ovechkin? hawks fans before kane and toews?

I think it would be a huge mistake (as well as a kick to the junk for Oilers fans) for Edmonton to trade away the 1st overall pick. I don't see any team coming up with a package that would satisfy the Oilers, either.

no shit. yes, we are considering buying out a overpaid payer, and having a cap hit for the next couple of years..... but "Hey, anyone want to trade for this veteran leader that would be a boon to any team. Please ignore the fact that you will be able to sign him for free to a much lower contract by the end of the month. So any takers?"

Well that depends. I've heard rumors the Bruins might try to trade with them to lock up Hall and the Oilers would still get the center they need in Seguin plus whatever else they get in the trade. I wouldn't be surprised as both teams have traded in the past. It's all rumor, but Bruins fans really want Hall and the Oilers could make out pretty good

In a gate driven league like the NHL, I think it sends a bad message to your fans when you've tanked a season in order to secure the first overall pick and then you trade that pick away. The package better be really over the top and insure the fans that you're making the playoffs and ready to do some damage or you don't make the deal. The thing is even with Hall or Seguin, I still don't think the Oilers will make the playoffs next season, so why even go down the road of trading away the pick?!?

I honestly think they will take Seguin which will leave Hall for the Bruins.
