You posted "swing and miss by Denver" and "that is the best KC has done against anybody this year". Since you were referring to the game in which Denver handed KC its only loss this year, I don't think it's too difficult to understand the inconsistency between your two statements. Big deal if Charles and Smith each had one long run. The Denver defense did not swing and miss and KC did not have its best game of the year.

I'm actually pretty pleased with Denver's run d. If you just take the raw numbers they don't look very good, but most of that damage was done on 2 runs. The first was the 35 yard run from Charles, and the second was the 25 yard scramble by Alex Smith to end the first half when Denver was just trying to stop the touchdown.

So if you take away those two runs, Denver gave up 85 yards on 23 carries, for an average of 3.65 yards per carry. I'm ok with giving up one long run as long as you're not allowing 5 or 6 yards a pop, and Denver did that. Although the stats look ok, the Chiefs ground game wasn't really that effective.
