Why is RG3 rushing to come back? I hear he wants to try to get the coaches to let him play in the 3rd pre season game against Buffalo.

Because he's young, he's a pro athlete, and he just wants to get back in the game.

He's shown such maturity in so many areas, I'm gonna cut him a little slack for being overly enthusiastic.

(Note there is a RG3 thread stickied at the top for all things RG3)

Because he wants to do everything in his power to prove that he's ready for the opener.

Some will view his drive and determination as a negative. I won't.

I think it goes back to his competiveness. He's not satisfied unless he is the best. I think he wants to beat the recovery time of Peterson. As said earlier, this is a maturity thing, but his dad needs to council him now, just as he rebuked shanahan in the offseason.

I think some of it has to do with his dedication to the team...He's the leader/face of the franchise, and wants it to be successful...Without him, he doesn't see as good of a chance of that happening...So he's going all in..

I for one, thinks he needs to slow it down a bit...

I think he knows that KC is a heck of a QB and rather not have the fan base turn on him if KC opens the season at 2 and 0 while looking impressive. Let's face it. Griffin is a competitor. He doesn't want anyone stealing his thunder. He also just want's to play because he wants to be sole leader of this team. Most of you would say he is even if KC started out lets say 4 and 0. I realize Griff as all indicated will start week one so this won't be an issue, but it would be interesting.

I just listened to his presser. He really needs to be careful. He is almost bordering on insubordination. Shanahan got thrown under the bus after the Seattle game because many, including rg3s dad, felt he was too reckless with rg3. Now, rg3 is close to throwing him under the bus because he is too careful with him. Shanahan does not deal well with players that show him disrespect in the press. RG3 needs to back off before this turns ugly.

This guy has a competitive drive to rival anyone. He wants to be on the field so that he can help his team win. His reckless nature is precisely what makes him great. This dude is a winner and he will absolutely bring a Super Bowl to DC if he is able to stay healthy over the next 5 years.

Lets sit back and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts and trust that Shanahan has learned his lesson as far as his RG3 management.

Shanahan loses that battle. Guaranteed.

If RG3 continues to take this stance over the next several weeks then this is a great test for Mike Shanahan. Shanahan simply needs to state that he admires his desire but no way will he play in preseason (not needed for any reason). Assuming he is ready - he will start playing once the real games start.

Shanahan loses that battle. Guaranteed.

You are correct on this one. However - tell me again how if this is to occur this would be Shanahan's fault (hint - it isn't).

There's no evidence whatsoever it comes close to coming to that. That may or may not be Shanahan's fault if it did occur. It's hypothetical and you can't predict exactly what would be the things that caused it.

What you can predict, is that even if Shanahan somehow managed to get permission to get rid of him, RG3 wins that battle. He goes pretty much anywhere he wants to.

I'm saying there is no way for Shanahan to win. He can't do a thing to RG3. You're the ones pretending him wanting to play is a warning sign.

Not pretending to want to play. He does. He is a competitor. He said as much.

I said you are pretending that that is a concern. It is something to be excited about because you don't teach drive.

I like that he wants to play. I want him to have that drive.

RG3 is obviously frustrated. He is a competitor. After ending the season the way he did last year, he is anxious to get back out there. The preseason is a great place for him to gain his confidence back and knock some rust off. For someone coming off an injury, particularly QB, I'm sure he is quite anxious. I am sure he feels some sort of pressure after having a big year and wants as much practice as possible. There is no question why he wants to play so badly. We aren't talking about a 10 year vet and even if he was, i'm sure Brees, Manning, or Brady would all be anxious to get out there.

At the same time, there is no reason from a coaching standpoint to play him.

Because it's not rushing back. If he's cleared by the doctors, let him get a few reps in game situations. Make the throws quick drops and hand offs.
